SENIOR ADVISOR, KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

CARE is seeking for Senior Advisor, Knowledge Management, Research and Development who play a key role in the development of a robust research and development function, improved curation of existing knowledge assets, cultural change around knowledge valuation and innovation, operational changes related to cost recovery and incentives for knowledge sharing and proposal development, and guidance such as conceptual frameworks, lessons learned and data related to innovation, knowledge sharing, scaling, and other relevant concepts.
If this position is successful, CARE will bring its best thinking to every, project, program, initiative and proposal. CARE will also be a key knowledge broker within the development landscape and will generate cutting edge development approaches.
Catalogue and identify key models, approaches and narratives on the evolution of program approaches. Leverage the lessons, content and curriculum of the Impact Accelerator and Challenge to promote innovation and scaling within CARE. Work with relevant sector and outcome area knowledge and research leads, conduct thematic research reviews, and identify evidence gaps and link to future and ongoing research and piloting efforts. Strengthen quality review for proposal development, linking the process to CARE’s cutting edge knowledge base and relevant experts. Create a directory of experts and a mapping of communications channels (e.g. social network analysis). Investigate and pilot incentives for Knowledge Management, including cost recovery and performance rewards and requirements. Highlight knowledge “wins” (e.g. key thematic or program approach findings, and how they changed programs and practice) within internal communication channels. Liaise with key promotional agents within CARE, (e.g. Brand and Communications, Office of the President) to promote knowledge wins with external audiences. Promote cross-cutting, inter-sectoral collaboration on research and publication of results in industry-relevant journals and presentation at relevant fora.
Bachelor’s degree in international development, social sciences or related fields; Qualitative and quantitative research design coursework; Qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills; 5-7 years’ experience in designing and implementing knowledge management initiatives; 2+ years of professional experience related to international development programming; 2 – 4 years’ experience in managing virtual (web-based) or team-based learning platforms; Experience with selecting and supporting ICT platforms for intra-organizational communication, collaboration and data management; Experience in coordinating and/or managing multiple projects simultaneously; Experience in developing and implementing communication and dissemination strategies and publications; Broad range of facilitation and training methodologies; Strong writing and oral presentation skills.
