Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is located in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Naqoura. The incumbent will report to the Chief Rations Unit or his/her designee.

Responsibilities

1.Assist in provision of healthy and non-defective food items to UNIFIL contingents by:
•Inspecting all food items to include canned, dry, fresh and frozen, in addition to the bottled water and combat ration packs (CRPs) provided by food contractors;
•Ensuring that food delivery procedures are in line with the QA, health, hygiene requirements and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rations supply contract, HACCP, CODEX, and the UN Rations Management Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP);
•Assisting in implementing quality assurance procedures and examining any services, products and materials provided under the global food contract as and when required;

2.Maintain invoicing database by:
•Ensuring only delivered wholesome items are invoiced by contractors;
•Ensuring payment is only done for items inspected and accepted by both QC/QA, Receiving and Inspection representatives and Contingents’ Food Officers;
•Ensuring all damaged and rejected items are credited by the contractor;
•Verifying that all food items are being invoiced in accordance with contract’s terms and conditions;
•Maintaining accurate records pertaining to food deliveries, invoicing/payments etc.

3.Perform other tasks related to rations as follows:
•Monitor troops strength against feeding strength;
•Generate various relevant statistics reports;
•Analyse stock balance reports on delivered and available items and advise on any shortages and/or over shipments;
•Assist in the preparations of cost estimates for budget proposals;
•Assist staff within the Rations Unit in implementation of food rations program;
•Perform other duties as required.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience

At least 3 years of relevant experience in food or catering management, Supply Chain Management or logistics in public or private sector is required. Previous relevant experience in Peacekeeping Missions is desirable.
Good computer skills are required.
A valid driving license and an ability to operate light vehicle and mini-van with a manual transmission are required.

Languages

Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.

Assessment

Candidates will have to pass the United Nations Administrative Support Assessment Test (ASAT) or an equivalent. .
