The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for displaced populations. NRC started operations in the Islamic Republic of Iran in 2012. We deliver humanitarian assistance in five provinces in Iran in the sectors of Education, Food Security and livelihoods, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Shelter construction, as well as Information, Counseling and Legal Assistance (ICLA).
NRC Iran seeks to strengthen its advocacy and communications through the recruitment of a dedicated Communications Officer.

Job description

Generic responsibilities:

1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
2. Implement the support function of communications according to plan of action
3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
4. Ensure proper filing of documents
5. Promote and share ideas for improvement of the communications unit
6. Contribute to the implementation of the NRC Iran communications and advocacy strategies as requested.
7. Assist and implement validated communications initiatives in close cooperation with relevant staff.
8. Work with programme to provide timely and context specific information to internal and external stakeholders.
9. Ensure quality visual communications are designed and produced for different functions and projects. Assist with their production from design to publication.

Specific responsibilities:

• Contribute to drafting of reports, official letters, web stories and other communications in both Farsi and English.
• Assist the unit in preparing for events, workshops and seminars and meetings.

Qualifications

• Experience from working as a Communications Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
• Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
• Excellent knowledge of English

Personal qualities

• Advanced university degree or equivalent work experience in communications, international relations, journalism, political science or other relevant fields.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in communications, marketing and/or public relations.
• Excellent Farsi written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop, In Design or Illustrator is highly desirable.
• Proven experience and familiarity with graphic production from start to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) is an asset.
• Ability to work under pressure and with limited supervision.
