The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

NRC started operations on Chios in mid-October 2015 and has since directly assisted over 70,000 refugees and
migrants, working together with the Greek authorities, humanitarian actors and volunteers to set up and
maintain a dignified and efficient flow of refugees from arrival at the beach, via registration and reception
facilities, to departure by boat or plane to mainland Greece.
NRC Chios is now looking forward to cover the position of the Education Technical Assistant .

Job description

Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
Assist with the implementation of the delegated education project portfolio according to plan of action
Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
Ensure proper filing of documents
Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
Coordinate with relevant partners and other parts of NRC for the carrying out of activities.
Contributes to the implementation of new activities and uses initiative to problem solve day to day
Responsible for organizing and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards
Support teacher training and coaching.

Qualifications

Experience from working in a humanitarian/recovery context
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Good command of English
Fluency in Greek, both written and verbal
Experience working in Education sector
Bachelor in relevant field is an asset
Knowledge of Arabic or Farsi is a plus
