Your Grants experience can help change children’s lives for the better
World Vision is the world’s largest international children’s charity. Every day we bring real hope to millions of children in the world’s hardest places as a sign of God’s unconditional love. At World Vision, our aim is simple – to keep every child free from fear. We are also proud to be voted one of the Top 100 ‘Best Not-For-Profit Organisations to Work For’ ranked in 9th place for 2016.
The importance of a strong grant portfolio cannot be underestimated as we drive our mission to greatly impact child well-being. As Grants Portfolio Manager, you will work cross-organisationally and play a key role in increasing the number of acquisitions, whilst ensuring we deliver effective and efficient institutional grant funded projects aligned to World Vision UK’s overall Grants Strategy and Business Model.
This is a role where your experience in Grant Management, Grant Acquisition, Networking and Capacity Building will be expended to the full. By demonstrating knowledge of your designated region, the country level donor environment and funding mechanisms, you will provide exceptional project management oversight and support to institutional grant funded projects and programmes within your portfolio, identify funding opportunities and develop grant acquisition proposals by managing the application process. You will also work closely with the teams at National Office and Regional Office level to support development of engagement strategies and provide technical advice around analyses of DFID, EU and UN sector priorities and funding.
In collaboration with Grant Compliance Officers, you will develop a detailed understanding of donor calls for proposals, guidelines and procedures, including eligibility requirements.
A keen and proactive networker, you will love building contacts and relationships with other UK NGOs as well as your peers at World Vision International, and from these you will learn from, share and apply best practice in the acquisition and management of grants. You will also have the opportunity to work with the Regional Office to identify need and provide training and mentoring of National Office staff with regard to donor relations, grants acquisition and management strategies.
The role of Grants Portfolio Manager is not only an amazing one, but also one where your expertise will be valued across your designated region. This is also a role where you can truly demonstrate a Christ-centred life and work.
With excellent planning and organisational skills you are able to manage your own expectations as well as those of others. You are able to easily communicate information and build collaborative relationships, particularly cross-cultural ones.
A post-graduate degree or equivalent in a related field would be ideal, along with a proven record of submitting successful funding proposals to donors. Expertise in a specific area such as social accountability, health & nutrition, WASH, resilience, food security / agriculture will also be advantageous.
Excellent project management skills and experience of developing and maintaining relationships with institutional donors, analysing their funding requirements will be critical to the success of this role and you should also possess strong budgeting and financial management skills.
As a Christian, this role offers you the opportunity to integrate your Christian faith and be sensitive to its various expressions across cultures and denominations.
As you would expect, the role requires frequent travel to the designated Region so flexibility is key. In addition to the salary offered, you’ll enjoy benefits including pension, subsidised gym membership, generous holiday entitlement and free parking.
