Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Context:

Six years into the crisis, the humanitarian situation has continued to deteriorate in Syria with intensified fighting, high levels of violence, and widespread disregard for the rules of international law. The Needs and Population Monitoring (NPM) Programme is a set of tools and methods that IOM uses to track and assess affected population for the purpose of providing assistance. IOM is implementing the NPM Programme to regularly collect and verify data population groups, mobility dynamics and services accessibility at community level, in order to provide UN agencies, humanitarian clusters and other partners with baseline information and indicators to address priority needs, and the types of required humanitarian interventions. Under the overall supervision of the Head of Sub Office and direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator, the Data Analyst and Statistician (Needs and Population Monitoring (NPM)) will be responsible in providing support in data review and analysis of Needs and Population Monitoring (NPM) data collection and determine relevant findings. Core Functions / Responsibilities:

1. Review and analyze data from the Needs and Population Monitoring (NPM) demographic survey that was conducted across Syria.

2. Analyze monthly mobility dynamic and services monitoring data and identify and present the most important findings.

3. Analyze results from new and past thematic assessments conducted by Needs and Population Monitoring (NPM) together with humanitarian clusters.

4. Support the Needs and Population Monitoring (NPM) methodologies and data quality control. 5. Conduct analysis of quantitative data and findings of Needs and Population Monitoring (NPM) data collection rounds and determine relevant information for inclusion in reports. 6. Support the draft and production of Needs and Population Monitoring (NPM) reports (baseline, mobility dynamic monitoring, flash reports, and multi-sectoral assessment reports, among others) and support the development of other relevant NPM tools such as thematic Page 1 / 3surveys, alerts, governorate updates etc.

7. Contribute to the other preparatory phases of thematic assessments, surveys and other data collection tools.

8. Perform such other duties as may be required.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

• Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Management, Information Management, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least two years of relevant professional experience; or

• University degree in the above fields with four year of relevant professional experience. Experience

• Knowledge in Needs and Population Monitoring (NPM) similar initiatives such as displacement tracking and needs assessment programmes;

• Good understanding of the situation in Syria;

• Excellent level of computer literacy;

• Knowledge in data analysis programmes as such SPSS, Microsoft Access and statistical analysis software an advantage;

• Experience in indicator development, data collection, data management and quantitative/statistical analysis and data quality assessments.

Languages

Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of Arabic is an advantage. Desirable Competencies:
