Title: IT Officer

Location: Beijing, China

Report to: Head of Administration and Human Resources

The International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR) is the only global inter-governmental development organization committed to reducing poverty and protecting the environment through the use of bamboo and rattan.  With headquarters in Beijing, China and offices in India, Ethiopia, Ghana and Ecuador, the INBAR Secretariat supports its 42 Member States worldwide and has links with a large number of international, regional, and national organizations.

INBAR is currently seeking a front-line IT support specialist. As the IT Officer, you will work on a permanent basis and will be responsible for supporting users of INBAR’s IT, telecoms and technology services. The key responsibilities of the IT Officer are to provide hardware and software support, purchase and manage new pieces of IT equipment, ensure systems are running properly and effectively and provide IT training for staff.

Responsibilities

  • Deploys, manages, and monitors local area networking systems;
  • Responsible for the smooth running of the internet services, firewalls, routers, switches, servers, and security systems;
  • Provides network administration services, INBAR email service, maintains reliable and secure access to stored data;
  • Provide day-to-day support of the hardware and software applications in use in front and back office systems in the Beijing office;
  • Purchase, introduction, management and disposal of IT equipment in accordance with INBAR policy and practice;
  • Provide technical support to all staff in the operation of IT systems (Microsoft Office, Intranet, etc.); Advise local and regional staff on technical issues, provide technical assurance and solutions for implementing INBAR systems and maximising current use of facilities;
  • IT training for staff;
  • Manage information created and received in compliance with the INBAR’s information management standards, policies, the China data protection principles and local legislation;
  • Technical maintenance of INBAR website ;
  • Other tasks as reasonably requested by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with desktop, laptop, server computing, networking, phone setup / support, storage, virtualization, and business applications;
  • IT Customer Service :Good communication skills with end user;
  • Speaking & writing, listening and writing in English and Chinese.
