CARE is seeking an Executive Director to be based in New York, who will be responsible for not only developing a national fund-raising and community presence strategy, but will also lead, implement and direct that strategy within specific regions in the US. Reporting to the Associate Vice President, the Executive Director will be part of the National Leadership team for Individual Giving in the Fund-raising and Marketing (F&M) division at CARE, and will work with colleagues in planned giving.
The Executive Director will have management and budget oversight for the assigned region, and will work with staff in the region to set and achieve fund-raising goals including major and planned gifts. The Executive Director is responsible for the professional development of staff in the region.
In addition, the Executive Director works directly with individual donors and family/private foundations to raise major gifts for CARE's unrestricted program as well as restricted gifts. This leadership role is responsible for developing and implementing cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies for his/her portfolio of donors/ prospects, and for leading the strategy of these activities for the regional team. The Executive Director is responsible for managing the regional team's contribution towards CARE's $2B comprehensive fundraising campaign.
The person in this role is expected to maintain an active schedule of personal visits to, and initiate one on one engagement opportunities with donors and new prospects. In addition, the Executive Director should be conversant in Planned Giving to provide major donors with as broad an array of resource engagement with CARE as possible. H/she will collaborate with senior leadership in the other departments of Fundraising and Marketing (Direct Marketing and Online; Events and travel; Communications and Marketing; Business Operations) to develop and review processes related to solicitation efforts (mail, phone, face to face), proposal writing, and the identification of opportunities for high-level donors to interact with CARE's senior leadership and members of the board.

· Bachelor's degree, Master’s degree preferred
· Seven (7) years of fundraising responsibility
· Two (2) years of staff management responsibilities
· Demonstrable progression in complexity of major gift and planned gift solicitation
· Experience in developing innovative approaches to new donor engagement, cultivation and stewardship
· Experience in identifying, developing and using infrastructure resources to advance fundraising outcomes
· Excellent communication skills both, orally and in written form
