The
overall objective for DRC in Turkey is the protection and promotion of durable
solutions to displacement affected populations on the basis of humanitarian
principles and human rights with more immediate objectives focusing both on the
immediate subsistence needs, protection and self-reliance support as well as a
more long term focus on capacity building.
In 2016 DRC will run 4 community centers across south eastern Turkey and
through these centers DRC will work with beneficiary communities and individuals
to prevent and reduce protection threats, and build resilience.
Who are we?
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a
humanitarian, non-governmental and non-profit organization, founded in 1956,
that works in more than 35 countries around the world. DRC has been operating
in Turkey since early 2013, working with by and large with non-camp Syrian
refugees and affected host communities. DRC is committed to basic humanitarian
principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest
standards of accountability to the people it serves. The overall objective for
DRC in Turkey is the protection and promotion of durable solutions to
displacement affected populations on the basis of humanitarian principles and
human rights with more immediate objectives focusing both on the immediate
subsistence needs, protection and self-reliance support as well as a more long
term focus on capacity building. In Turkey, DRC works partially through
partners, also providing intensive capacity building support, while also
conducting direct implementation.
About the Job
The position Multi-Functional Safe Space Officer will
be based in Şanlıurfa - Turkey. DRC is inviting local candidates to apply, to provide support to the MFSS officer in planning, implementation,
reporting overall MFSS activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
General
Responsibility (20%)
- Participate in coordinating the operations of the multi-functional safe spaces.
- Assist the Senior Protection Officer and other relevant officers in the detailed planning of and reporting on MFSS activities
- Ensure co-development of all daily/weekly/monthly work plan, in coordination with senior protection staff.
- Represent the DRC MFSS team when requested
Coordination
and follow-up responsibilities: (20%)
- Follow up on all MFSS activities in Sanliurfa at 5 facilities (life skills sessions, outreach activities, awareness raising sessions, recreational activities, etc) in close collaboration with the senior staff, other DRC protection teams, partnering organisations, community committees, and other relevant stakeholders
- Conduct weekly coordination meetings with MFSS staff and volunteers
- Evaluate MFSS activities and propose new activities
- Follow up daily on MFSS activities
- Prepare and update the timetable and work plan for MFSS activities
- Prepare and submit Order requests based on the needs of the MFSSs and their activities
- Human resources responsibilities: (20%)
- Support the recruitment and evaluation of human resources (community centre staff and volunteers) in collaboration with the Senior Officer
- Archive volunteer’s CVs and contracts (hard and soft copies)
- Identify human resource needs and suggest training opportunities accordingly
Financial/Administrative
responsibilities: (20%)
- Assess procurement needs in coordination with the Senior Officer
- Coordinate and supervise the correctness of DRC finance/admin procedures
- Ensure and supervise regular volunteer allowances in coordination with the admin and finance assistant
- Monitor budgeting, expenditure and expense tracking activities throughout the project, in close collaboration with the Senior Officer
- Coordinate with the Senior Officer on setting the payment schedule, ensuring accurate payment of regular expenses
Reporting
responsibilities: (20%)
- Prepare the overall community service monthly report
- Propose new activities according to identified needs in the community
- Suggest solutions for problems encountered with activities, budget, work plan and human resources, discuss them with the Project Manager and participate in the decision-making process
- Regularly monitor and evaluate the quality of activities & security and protection policies being implemented
About you
To be successful in this role, you must have university degree in
social sciences.

qualifications
- Must hold to right and able to get the right to work in Turkey
- Have at least 1 year related experience to work in International Non-Governmental Organization
- Experience working in the field (preferably experience from Southern Turkey)
- Excellent communication skills
- knows Arabic and English (Turkish is desirable)

Previous DRC experience and/or experience with donor funded projects is a strong asset

We offer
DRC will offer the successful applicant a 09 months’ contract, renewable
dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work
from 15 March 2017 and be willing
and able to work in Şanlıurfa.
We offer a fair compensation package depending on your
qualification and experiences as well as additional allowances such as
relocation allowance and living allowances, if applicable. DRC Turkey is income
tax exempted.
