NRC Geneva is seeking to recruit an INTERNAL NRC CANDIDATE WITH SWISS; EU, OR EFTA NATIONALITY for the position of Communications Assistant to support the Humanitarian Policy Team.
NRC Geneva leads Norwegian Refugee Council’s representation and activities in Geneva, especially with the IASC mechanisms and UN agencies, as well as leading on humanitarian policy globally. NRC strives to assist and protect vulnerable and displaced people during crises, especially in situations of conflict. Established in 1946, NRC is an independent, humanitarian, non-profit, non-governmental organisation working in over 25 countries with approximately 4,500 staff. NRC employs a rights based approach, challenging those with responsibility to uphold the rights of displaced people set out within national and International Laws. NRC endeavours to secure the acceptance of local stakeholders for activities and is committed to the principles of humanity, neutrality, independence and impartiality.
Responsibilities
• Coordinate with communication and media teams in Oslo on behalf of NRC Geneva
• Disseminate NRC publications and reports as required
• Conduct research to support NRC communications materials as required
• Provide support to contribute, monitor and evaluate media coverage relevant to NRC
• Provide administrative support to the NRC Geneva Director, Policy team and Institutional Partnership team
• Develop and implement communications materials e.g. press releases, web articles, media plans
• Lead NRC Geneva social media updates
• Keep NRC’s library of print and online publications up to date
• Keep NRC global and events calendar up to date
Critical interfaces
• NRC Communications and Media team in Oslo and Country Offices
• NRC Geneva Policy and Institutional Partnership teams
• NRC Geneva Director
• Demonstrated understanding and experience of humanitarian affairs and policy.
• Knowledge of publishing processes and branding is a distinct advantage
• Proven ability to produce and deliver complex multimedia communications
• Attention to detail
• Excellent written English
• Very good interpersonal skills
• Ability to meet deadlines

Job description
The Communications Associate will provide support to NRC Geneva’s multiple portfolios - humanitarian principles, humanitarian financing, protection, and counterterrorism/countering violent extremism measures.Responsibilities

• At least two years of experience in communications and media.• Demonstrated understanding and experience of humanitarian affairs and policy.
• Knowledge of publishing processes and branding is a distinct advantage
• Proven ability to produce and deliver complex multimedia communications
