The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

Position Description:

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for overall implementation of the NRC Logistics systems and procedures for the Syrian Response Office in its areas of operation. The Logistics Coordinator shall work under guidance of the Support Manager to fulfil the objectives in accordance with NRC's mandate, policies and country specific strategy. The purpose of the position is managing and mentoring the logistics team, planning, organizing and coordination of logistics and procurement duties, functions and responsibilities to ensure efficient and effective delivery of goods and services in support of programme implementation.

Our Ideal Candidate:

This position is ideal for an experienced humanitarian professional with at least three years of procurement and logistics experience in management position. They have previous experience working in complex, volatile contexts.

We are particularly looking for an individual with strong communication skills and a demonstrated capacity work independently and lead teams remotely. Knowledge of the Syria context or previous experience working in the Middle East is desirable.

Fluency in English, both written and verbal is essential for success in this role.  Knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
