Job description

  • Assist Logistics Officer in ensuring that accurate records are kept of all stock movements in line with NRC Logistics policies and procedures and that reports are circulated regularly
  • Oversea stock management and dispersal of office supplies stock room (stationary, cleaning and hygiene items) ensuring replenishment stock is ordered in a timely manner and there is no rupture in supplies.
  • Ensure warehouse and office stock room are clean and tidy, that commodities are stored according to category and donor and that warehousing records/paperwork is stored in an accessible manner.
  • Cleaning schedule is adhered to and proper warehouse safety & security protocols are maintained (i.e. access to fire extinguishers, restriction on persons entering the warehouse, warehouse locked at all times)
  • Receive materials from suppliers, ensuring what is received is as per approved specifications, quality and quantity specified in the contract/purchase order
  • Prepare packaging and labelling of stock and dispatch to the field offices and distribution sites
  • Arrange loading/unloading of trucks
  • Support during distributions of programmatic stock in Kabul or surrounding areas
  • Monthly receipt of archive files from field offices, ensuring these are forwarded to the relevant department for archiving
  • Support Logistics Officer, where necessary, with asset and inventory physical checks
  • Track and monitor assets in-line with NRC logistics handbook and NRC Afghanistan SOPs
  • Performs other duties when required

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated understanding of key NGO logistics systems, processes and tools
  • At least 3 years’ experience working with NGOs, preferably in a logistics/operations role
  • Sound ability to use MS office (particularly word and excel), email and internet
  • Local language fluency, with good written and spoken English
  • Demonstrated ability work proactively, pay attention to detail, prioritize competing tasks, respond to urgent needs, and support the team in a range of tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, and remain calm under pressure
  • High level of integrity.
