Purpose of the Assignment:

As part of the planned advocacy campaigns for 2017 in priority issues, the purpose of this consultancy is to produce various communication and advocacy materials that are engaging, high quality, message-oriented, creative, professional and in compliance with UNICEF's new branding and style guide.

 

These products are targeted primarily to an external audience such as donors, media, government, academia, etc. It is also targeted to be used by internal audiences such as HQ, NatComs, and County Offices.

Assignment Tasks:

The Consultant will be required to conceptualize, design, produce, and deliver required communication products on time. The specific tasks include:

  • Child Mariage Advocacy Materials: Print-version of 4-paged three documents that includes data charts and illustrated graph, tables, pictures, infographics, etc.; Also online version for all three documents
  • Stop Stunting & Waisting Advocacy Materials: 15 -20 pages print-ready and online documents. This includes factsheets, advisories, infographics, etc.
  • Nutrition and Human Capital in South Asia (SAARC Report): The UNICEF-SAARC-Harvard-Tufts Technical Report on Stunting, Hidden Malnutrition and Human Capital in South Asia
  • Adolescence Digital Campaign Materials (IKEA): Depending on the campaign messages, digital version of promotional posters, infographs, infographics, pictographs, 1 or 2 videographs, social media toolkits, factsheets, information webpage, vignettes, presentations, and reports. Note: If required, prepare a print-ready version of some of these online materials.
  • Educate All Girls and Boys Advocacy Materials: To support the campaign which will focus on priority themes such as ECD or Quality Education this will involve       social media materials, infographics, posters, multimedia presentations, factsheets and so on.

Expected Deliverables:

The Consultant is responsible for the concept, design and delivery of the print-ready and digital productions. The Consultant will be working with the ROSA Communication Section to ensure that these materials are communicating key messages around specific topics. The Consultant is requested to produce the following deliverables completed in line with UNICEF branding requirements and within specified deadlines:

 Digital version of promotional posters, infographs, infographics, pictographs, 1 or 2 videographs, social media toolkits, factsheets, information webpage, vignettes, presentations, and reports.

5.

Educate All Girls and Boys

 Advocacy materials including social media materials, posters, infographics, factsheets etc based on 2 or 3 priority themes (i.e. ECD, SDG 4).

Working condition:

Home-based. Consultant will work remotely with the Regional Communication Section to deliver on the outputs above.

Duration of the Consultancy:

The contract duration is 15 March 2017 to 30 September 2017. Consultant will work for 144 days (approx.) based on the number of days required to complete his/her scope of work.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate:

Education

An advanced University degree in Graphic Design or a University degree with equal years of relevant work experience in lieu of a master's degree.

Years of relevant experience

A minimum of 8 years experience in the following areas:

  •  Graphic design and graphic design software, including but not limited to: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After effect, Final Cut Pro, Flash, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge in concept and creation of specific graphic design assets, including infographics/factographs (for print and digital), data visualization, animation/videographics, web development and management, and interactive presentations.
  • Show a clear and mature style of design, demonstrating an understanding of the communication requirements of a UN agency;
  • Good understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms.

Language:

Excellent written and spoken English

Other Skills:

  • Excellent inter-personal communication skills;
  • Proven ability to deliver under tight deadlines;
  • Previous experience designing for UNICEF and familiarity with UNICEF's new brand, design and style guidelines will be an asset.
