Content and Methodology of Supervision

 

The purpose of Projects Planning and Monitoring Officer (PPMO) position is to support and strengthen the on-going efforts of Jordan Field Office (JFO) to strengthen the results-based planning and monitoring of various projects in JFO.

                                   

The PPMO reports to the Field Programme Support Officer (FPSO), who will guide in developing and implementing a realistic work plan, and will review the progress every month.  The incumbent will work closely with Donor Relations Officer, Project Officer/Managers and UNICEF Projects Monitoring Officer.

 

The incumbent’s performance will be monitored and evaluated as per UNRWA staff performance evaluation procedure applicable for the post.

 

Duties, Responsibilities and Output statement

 

The incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks:

 

1.    Ensure proper project planning and assist in preparation of Annual Operations Plan in line with UNRWA projects and programme procedures.

2.    Ensure that results based monitoring and reporting procedures and practices are being followed by the project staff, and reporting requirements, including dates, are fully met.

3.    Closely monitor budgets of projects and expenditure trend, and to ensure timely utilization of available financial resource.

4.    Assist in REACH/Public Sector Management implementation.

5.    Assist in gender and disability mainstreaming in projects.

6.    Ensure implementation of project monitoring and reporting procedures by project managers.

7.    Lead in the preparation of periodic progress reviews.

8.    Strengthen lesson learning by project teams and their application in planning, implementation and monitoring of projects.

9.    Assist FPSO in implementation of both centralized (HQ led) and decentralized (Field Office led) external evaluations of projects.

10.  Performs other planning and monitoring as may be assigned. 

 

Essential Qualifications and Experience

·         Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution, in a relevant discipline, preferably with specialization in monitoring and evaluation from a recognized institution.

·         Three years long work experience of project planning and implementation with some work experience of progress monitoring and reporting.

·         Good command of written and spoken English and report writing skills.

·         Experience and knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
