Jointly established by 194 Member States of the United Nations in 2010, GCF invests in transformational projects that build low -emission and climate-resilient economies in developing countries. The Fund will serve as an enabler of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, channelling significant financial resources to developing countries to make an ambitious contribution to global climate acti on.

To realize this unprecedented mission, GCF is expanding its workforce. It is seekingan Entity Relationship Coordinator for Financial Institutions who will be part of a growing organization that offers exciting challenges and responsibilities.

Position description

The Entity Relationship Coordinator, Financial Institutions (Accredited Entities Specialist) will contribute to the operational activities of the Fund through the management of relations with Accredited Entities, particularly financial institutions, which may be public or private, direct or international access entities, entrusted to channel the resources of the Fund to developing countries for activities to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change. These may include Ministries, local and international financial institutions, private sector entities, state owned entities, NGOs, UN agencies, etc. S/he will develop and monitor the Fund’s relationships with Accredited Entities and implement the accreditation process with the objective of maximizing the success of the Fund’s operations. Duties and responsibilities

Within the Country Programming Division and as a member of the accreditat ion team, she/he will: • Build and maintain relationships with Accredited Entities, particularly financial institutions, and guide them as they work with the country National Designated Authority (NDA) or focal point to identify, prepare, and submit funding proposals;

• Serve as adviser to the management of the GCF on matters related to accreditation and to the performance of Accredited Entities;

• Participate in the negotiations of legal arrangements with Accredited Entities, particularly financial institutions; • Advise Accredited Entities on GCF policies, investment criteria, and key priorities expressed by countries; • Advise Accredited Entities in the preparation of their Entity Work Programmes;

• Undertake the periodic review of Accredited Entities, including the re-accreditation process;

• Maintain knowledge about Accredited Entities, particularly as it relates to their scope of operations, and serve as a resource for the Fund to inform its decision-making;

• Contribute to the preparation of the Fund’s regular reports to the Board and other updates in relation to accreditation and Accredited Entities;

• Liaise with financial institutions, which may be public or private, direct or international access entities, interested in being accredited to the Fund;

• Support the work of the Accreditat ion Committee of the Board in the performance of its duties related to accreditation policy matters; and

• Collaborate with the Accreditation Panel in line with the respective roles of the Panel and the Secretariat in the accreditation process.

Required experience and qualifications

• Master’s degree in economic, environmental studies, business management, or other relevant field ; • A minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, including experience in, or working with, developing countries • Demonstrated experience in undertaking strategic planning, relationship management, and accreditation or quality assurance activities; and

• Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of local language and/or another United Nations language is an advantage.
