The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the camp management, shelter, education, food security, legal assistance, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours’ notice when a crisis occurs.

We are looking for an experienced Logistics Manager for NRC’s country programme in the Central African Republic (CAR). NRC’s country programme in CAR was re-established in 2014 and currently has operations in four prefectures, with a Country Office, three Area Offices, and three Sub-offices. Our programmes focus on education, food security, shelter, information and legal counselling, water and sanitation, protection, and emergency response.

The Logistics Manager reports to the Head of Support.

Job description

The Logistics Manager position is responsible for ensuring the implementation of NRC standards in logistic operations and to support implementation of humanitarian assistance programmes.

Ensure that country set up complies with Logistics Handbook, NRC policies and donor requirements
Strengthen and support the logistics system in field bases
Develop clear warehousing system in line with NRC standards
Build capacity of logistics staff
Ensure quality and timely internal and donor reporting

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience from working as a senior Logistics Manager in a humanitarian/recovery context
Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Professional capacity in French (written and verbal)
Experience with start-up is a plus
Experience in Central Africa is a plus
Valid driver’s license

Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s International general directions and free housing of moderate standard.
Duty station: Bangui, with travels in the field. Bangui is a non family duty station
Commencement: May 2017
Duration: 16 months (fixed term contract)
