Background

UNICEF's Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in Budapest, Hungary manages the processing of a number of transactions on behalf of UNICEF offices around the world. The GSSC provides the services to UNICEF offices globally in the areas of HR Administration, Payroll, Finance and Customer Care (Information Technology Global Help Desk).

The GSSC was established in 2015 and has over 300 staff members from around the world. The staff at the GSSC are highly educated, young professionals many of whom are new to the UN and UNICEF. They are eager to learn and develop skills needed to perform their tasks and participate in comprehensive learning in order to achieve that goal.

Purpose

The Curriculum Development Consultant will develop and present Advanced Customer Service - Business Communications curriculum for delivery in face-to-face training classes to professionals at the GSSC in Budapest. The curriculum can be divided into several modules some of which may be integrated with our existing customer service course. Total classroom time for the course will not exceed three days.

Key Accountabilities and Tasks

Under the direction of the Learning and Development Specialist, the consultant will be paid within 30 days of providing each of the below deliverables:

Design content. The modules will include:

  • Verbal communications
  • Cultural sensitivity when communicating
  • Email etiquette
  • Business writing in English
  • Persuasive communication
  • Communicating for impact

Develop module course content following approval of design (Completion of course content of the above)

 

Test: Run test trainings of the modules, within 5 days of content completion. Update content as needed.

 

Train. Conduct first run of the modules (one class for each module).

 

Finalize: Develop and Deliver train-the-trainer materials and finalize delivery of course materials.

 

Calendar and payment schedule:

Design – 20 business days

Test – 10 business days following approved design

Train – 5 business days following testing and updating

Finalize – 5 business days following successful completion of first run training

 

Qualifications of Successful Candidate

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in developing adult learning courseware
  • Proven presentation skills
  • Fluent English language skills
  • Good analytical and communication skills
  • Proven experience in implementation under time limits
  • Ability to work under supervision and within deadlines
  • Knowledge of the UN System and/or UNICEF is an asset.

Working Conditions:

Consultants are responsible for arranging at their own expense life, health and other forms of insurance covering the period of their services on behalf of UNICEF as they consider appropriate. Consultants are not eligible to participate in the life or health insurance schemes available to United Nations staff members.

UNICEF undertakes no liability for taxes, duty or other contribution payable by the consultant on payments made under this contract.

Consultants are required to submit a statement of good health prior to commencement of work and to take full responsibility for the accuracy of that statement.
