The incumbent of this post will provide direct support to the Knowledge Management and Implementation Research (KMIR) team in the Health Section of UNICEF’s Programme Division in New York Headquarters. This will include coordination, preparation of communication materials, organization of meetings, processing transactions, budget maintenance and other essential administrative functions.

How can you make a difference?

The incumbent of this post will provide direct support to the Knowledge Management and Implementation Research (KMIR) team in the Health Section of UNICEF's Programme Division in New York Headquarters. This will include coordination, preparation of communication materials, organization of meetings, processing transactions, budget maintenance and other essential administrative functions.

  • Provide efficient and effective support to the KMIR unit's communication workflow by assisting in the drafting of presentations, prioritizing requests for action and follow-up and facilitating correspondence.
  • Undertake meeting arrangements, support meeting logistics, prepare background information and respond to meeting requests.
  • Maintain travel plan and team attendance calendar, support colleagues in arranging travel/visas and serve as attendance focal point to update leave records.
  • Act as focal point for KMIR personnel and administrative issues including invoicing for consultants, preparation of contracts, recruitment support and allocation of office space/equipment.
  • Assist in monitoring and updating the Annual Work Plan including financial commitments and expenditures; provide KMIR colleagues with relevant budgetary information by liaising with relevant units/sections.
  • Other administrative functions as required.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented with technical or university courses related to the work of UNICEF.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience in providing progressively responsible administrative support services.
  • Working knowledge of UNICEF systems, policies and procedures is considered an asset.
  • Strong writing, interpersonal and communications skills are required.
  • Passing the GGST Exam (Global General Service Test) or UN ASAT in English is required.
  • Non-US candidates must be in possession of a US G4 visa or be a US permanent resident/citizen.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
