Strategic Purchasing Analyst The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a proactive and responsible Strategic Purchasing Analyst with high level of commitment, client orientated, and with excellent organizational skills to execute local procurement for CIP headquarters .

The Center: CIP is a not-for-profit international agricultural research-for-development organization with a focus on potato, sweet potato, and Andean roots and tubers. Its vision is of roots and tubers improving the lives of the poor. CIP is dedicated to achieving food security, improved well-being, and gender equity for poor people in root and tuber farming and food systems of the developing world. CIP works with partners to contribute high quality science, technology, and capacity strengthening for sustainable science-based solutions. CIP is headquartered in Lima, Peru, with staff and activities in over 30 locations across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. CIP is a member of the CGIAR Consortium. CGIAR is a global agriculture research partnership for a food secure future. Its science is carried out by the 15 research centers who are members of the CGIAR Consortium in collaboration with hundreds of partner organizations.

The position:This positionwill be based inLima,Peruand reportdirectlyto theGlobal LogisticsManager. Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Identify new suppliers and derivative products by constant market follow up, call for bids and acquire the best suppliers that will guarantee an optimum supply chain.
  • Identify and implement alternatives for purchase sources, to minimize costs, time, and warehouse inventory levels.
  • Determine purchase strategies to secure a cost-effective long term supply chain.
  • Prepare and conduct contract negotiations for medium and large volumes.
  • Monitor and control agreements with suppliers, and keep in touch with key contacts.
  • Organize and monitor acquisitions, following standard processes and track product flow from origin to final delivery.
  • Createandmaintaincontactwithinternalcustomers,inordertoassistthemwithtechnical queries/ requests, agreed standards and deadlines.
  • Process documentation forexecution of logisticsoperations, taking appropriate actions to resolve operational issues.
  • Register and maintain logistic database in corporate system for successfully tracking of information.
  • Interpret data on logistics elements (supply chain management, strategic sourcing or distribution) for decision making.Selection Criteria:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, International Business or related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of suppliers in issues such as travels, small constructions, adaptation of existing spaces (laboratories, offices, greenhouses).
  • Al least 3-5 years of experience required in similar position.
  • Fluent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Proficient on MS Excel, Word and Power Point at user level.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strongclientserviceorientationanddisplayingagood-naturedcooperativeattitudewithinternal and external clients.
  • Knowledge of ERP software’s and administration of products and suppliers master files.

Conditions: The position is local thus limited to Peruvian nationals and permanent residents. The employmentcontractwill be for a one-year term witha three-monthprobation periodand thepossibility of renewal.
