CBM has been involved from the outset with "VISION 2020: The Right to Sight", a global initiative with the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) to eliminate avoidable blindness by the year 2020, and other global initiatives such as the provision of affordable hearing aids, education for all and community mental health. CBM is also recognised as a collaborating organisation by the World Health Organization (WHO) and has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Together with its partner organisations, CBM is active in more than 650 projects in 63 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, reaching over 38 million people in 2015.

Internal Communications Manager

 

Location: Bensheim, Germany

Contract Duration: 1 year (maternity cover with possible extension)

Contract Type: 50% (19,5 hours per week)

Contract Start: April 15, 2017

Objective

The Internal Communication Manager is responsible for the proactive management of CBM global internal communication channels - such as the CBM intranet, the CBM federation newsletter, staff webinars and staff meetings – and reports to the International Executive Director. The position holder develops and implements an annual plan for internal communications and creates, manages and maintains CBM’s intranet (MS SharePoint). In addition, s/he coaches authors in providing content for internal communications and advises CBM’s management in identifying relevant topics, channel and messages for employee communication. The Manager also works with the editorial team on the publication of a monthly internal newsletter.

Main tasks

  • Coordinate and facilitate the monthly webinar series of the International Leadership Team
  • Manage and further develop the technical platform to publish a monthly federation newsletter
  • Regularly review and update the intranet concept
  • Manage and implement new features and content for the CBM intranet
  • Contribute to the content of all internal communication channels
  • Coordinate and facilitate the quarterly staff meetings at the International Office
  • Ensure accessibility and user-friendliness of the internal communication channels 

Professional Profile and Requirements

  • University degree in communication or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in internal communication
  • Working experience in an international organisation
  • Experience in working with external service providers for intranet based applications
  • Experience in intranet management, design and architecture (MS SharePoint and O365 environment)
