How can you make a difference?

Working under the guidance of the Chief of Knowledge Sharing and Internal Communication, you will contribute towards achievement of all internal communication aspects of UNICEF's global advocacy priorities as well as towards DOC's ongoing implementation of the Global Communication & Public Advocacy Strategy. You will also be responsible for all design aspects of ICON, including support for Division of Communication, Office of the Executive Director and all other divisions, Regional Offices and Country Office requests for portals, stories, initiatives and internal communication campaigns. You will also be responsible for creating infographics, recording and editing of video assets for internal communication purposes. You will work in close coordination with the Information and Communication Technology Division to provide support for the Intranet's transition to the SharePoint Online platform. You will be expected to conceptualize and design infographics/factographs to communicate key messages around specific topics as well as conceptualize and produce short videos to share through digital platforms. 

  1. Work with country and regional offices to source and create content for ICON in support of UNICEF`s programming and policy initiatives globally.
  2. Work with UNICEF offices to source, develop and disseminate, through internal digital platforms, case studies, best practices and other knowledge sharing documents on key organizational priorities and issues.
  3. Support the production and distribution of multimedia materials, such as videos, infographics and factographs, for internal communication purposes.
  4. Support delivery of HQ divisions' and other UNICEF offices' requests for web-portals development and maintenance.
  5. Support the global Intranet's transition to SharePoint Online and coordinate the publication of all communication assets from country offices to the Intranet.
  6. Provide support to UNICEF internal communication campaigns and staff engagement initiatives.

 
To qualify as a champion for every child you will have… 

  • An advanced university degree (Master's) in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a directly related field(s). *A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with (2) two additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
  • A minimum of (3) three years of progressive, relevant professional work experience in communication including designing multimedia solutions for a communications unit is required.
  • Prior knowledge of web-communication and information communication technologies, including SharePoint is desirable.
  • Prior hands-on experience with Adobe suite and designing web pages is desirable.
  • Prior knowledge of contemporary development issues, developing country and programme exposure from field experience, and familiarity with child-related and UNICEF issues, including child rights will be an asset.
  • Prior demonstrated professional experience in the field of journalism, communications, external relations, public affairs, public relations, marketing or corporate communications is highly desirable.
  • Prior knowledge of United Nations or other international aid or NGOs highly desirable. 
  • Fluency in English (written & verbal) is required. Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) is considered an asset.

This position is classified as "rotational" which means the incumbent is expected to rotate to another duty station upon completion of their tour of duty.
