The Copywriter/Editor is responsible for writing clear, compelling copy for various mediums (e.g. campaigns, marketing publications, ads, video scripts, presentations, newsletters). Working with creative professionals to build marketing projects, donor/advocate communications and campaigns the Copywriter/Editor will be required to conduct thorough research and interviews in order to develop compelling content. Brainstorming, creating and transforming ideas into words, the Copywriter/Editor produces clear and concise copy for ads, publications and campaigns and is responsible for improving and maintaining content to achieve our brand and marketing business goals. The Copywriter/Editor is the champion for CARE's brand voice. His/Her words will be critical in informing and engaging target audiences to drive brand awareness, fund-raising, advocacy, supporter loyalty and activation. The ideal Copywriter/Editor is a team-spirited, skilled and imaginative writer with an eye for detail who can grasp project requirements quickly and offer valuable insight.

The Copywriter/Editor will also serve as the managing editor to oversee our organization's annual publishing operations, suggesting ideas for stories and seeing them through to publication. This will require the innovation abilities of a writer with the practical focus of an operations manager, excellent organizational and leadership skills, as well as a unique problem-solving ability. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Marketing & Creative Services the Copywriter/Editor directly supports all functions of the Brand &

Communications team, and in particular is a key member of the Brand Support team and will be responsible for ensuring the relevance and accuracy of CARE's Global Brand Standards in regard to brand voice and messaging direction. On a daily basis, the Copywriter/Editor will assist with responding to requests to review materials ensuring that appropriate brand messaging and style is consistently applied to external and internal messaging, reinforcing CARE's brand identity and supporting a culture of brand champions.


  • Write clear, attractive copy with a distinct voice;

  • Adapt tone for various audiences;

  • Interpret creative briefs to understand each project's copy-writing and editing requirements;

  • ·Collaborate with designers, PR and other professionals on large and small-scale marketing projects;

  • Conduct high-quality research and interviews;

  • Edit and proofread copy as needed;

  • Use SEO principles to maximize copy's reach;

  • Source images, information, and other content;

  • Coordinate editorial meetings;

  • Plan and approve assignments for writers and content providers;

  • Control schedules and enforce deadlines (for writers, photo editors, designers etc.);

  • Oversee proofreading procedures and edit copy when necessary;

  • Assist in evaluating finalized copy for brand excellence, style, and tone;

  • Resolve issues as they arise;

  • Ensures the accuracy and excellence of CARE's Global Brand Standards;

  • Fosters a culture of brand champions through the promotion & socialization of the Global Brand Standards (Brand Blasts, Presentations etc.);

  • The monitoring and timely response to support requests through Brand Support;

  • Collaborates with other Brand & Communications colleagues to develop and deliver training materials and tools;

  • Authors, in partnership with CARE designers and/or agencies, Brand Guides for emerging sub-brands.


  • BSC/BA Degree, Master’s preferred in Marketing, English, Journalism or related field;

  • 3-5 years of proven experience as a copywriter or related role;

  • 3-5 years managing editor, marketing agency or brand management experience a plus;

  • Knowledge of offline and online content strategy and creation, including social media desired;

  • Strong research skills

  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills in English;

  • Excellent organizational, time-management and leadership skills with proven abilities; in coordinating people and operations;

  • A creative and collaborative spirit with outstanding communication and people abilities;

  • Proficiency in MS Office.
