Country Office Background

Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) established its presence in Jordan in November 2012 in response to the conflict in Syria and resulting refugee influx. NRC Jordan currently employs over 450 national staff in Jordan is now one of the largest INGOs in the country. In 2016 the Country Office continues to focus on provision of protection, assistance and access to essential services for vulnerable Syrian refugees in formal camps and host communities. NRC strives to combine its programmatic activities with evidenced-based advocacy work focused on policy change and strong external communications and media engagement and. The Country Office also works to ensure safe and integrated programming through ensuring protection is effectively mainstreaming across all programming. 

Our Ideal Candidate:

The Logistics Manager, will be based in Amman, Jordan and oversee logistics operations for all of NRCs Jordan programs.  We are particularly looking for an experienced supply chain manager with at least five years’ experience in a senior logistics position with a humanitarian organization. This includes overseeing all facets of logistics (large scale procurement / fleet / transport & warehousing), management, financial management, and report writing.

 They are a strategic thinker with good planning skills who are able to set priorities, prepare manageable work plans and to evaluate progress. They also have demonstrated experience in successful managing of large numbers of staff (directly and indirectly), in various locations, supporting complex operations in multiple core competencies.

Position Description:

The main objective for the Logistics Manager is to develop and strengthen the logistic support services, i.e. procurement, warehousing, transport, fleet and the overall supply chain set-up. Ensuring that NRC Jordan is well positioned to respond to current and future emergencies with primed logistics’ mechanisms. The Logistics Manager must demonstrate strong engagement and leadership in all major logistics actions. The Manager’s specific responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure the timely delivery of logistics support services to all NRC Jordan projects.
  • Ensure the proper Logistics components are included in budget preparation for new grants and annual budgets - follow up and manage allocated budget lines (e.g. fuel, rental agreements).
  • Development and implementation of advanced planning tools and systems for logistics activities (procurement, warehousing, fleet, etc.) in coordination with the project heads.
  • Setup key performance measures for all aspects of logistics activities and regularly review them against actual performance.
  • Close and regular communication, coordination and planning will all project managers.
  • Directly assisting and contributing to program and project design, including budget development.
  • Develop the set-up of the logistics department to cope with the fast changing growth of programs at country level
