Face to Face Fundraising Specialist (Consultancy)

The incumbent will be the focal point for the development of UNICEF's Face to Face pledge donor recruitment programs in the LAC region, and thereby drive the growth of pledge (regular giving) income. The incumbent is to provide, technical fundraising expertise, guidance on managing Face to Face recruited donors and techniques to maximize their income through more efficient processes to Country Office fundraising teams. S/he must lead the Face to Face campaigns in donor acquisition through on street, door to door, event and workplace-based recruitment of regular givers. Lastly, the incumbent will provide advice for maximizing donor quality, fulfilment, retention, and ask strategy value maximization. The Face to Face Fundraising Specialist will work closely with the fundraising teams in PFP country offices across the LAC region to develop their fundraising activity in this area. The role of the incumbent will be twofold 1) to fill resource gaps where necessary in Country Offices 2) to impart best in class learnings in relation to the Face to Face channel.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFACTION

The income from Private Sector Fundraising in LAC is growing fast. In addition to this, Country Offices in the region have identified significant potential for growth up to 2021. Unlocking the potential of the Face to Face channel is key to realizing growth of Individuals fundraising.

In addition, in 2017, markets have received increased investment in Face to Face channels. There is a need to ensure the success of these investment programmes through filling resource gaps and ensuring best practices.

 

MAIN TASKS RELATED TO THE JOB

Under the guidance of the Regional Individuals Fundraising Manager, the consultant will perform the following duties:

  • Working from the relevant CO office. The Face to Face Specialist will work closely with the CO fundraising teams in one or all of the following markets - Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Colombia to develop, support and advise on their Face to Face activities and ensure the realization of results.
  • The Face to Face Specialist will work to fill resource gaps in the relevant CO country while also providing Face to Face training to both agencies and CO fundraising teams on best in class implementation strategies.
  • The Face to Face Specialist in the region will work closely with the Geneva F2F Specialist for alignment on global strategy and guidance on global best practice.
  • Provide remote Face to Face support to other CO's in the region – providing support calls on Face to Face activities, answering ad-hoc queries, sharing best in class examples of telemarketing implementation.
  • Organize and coordinate Face to Face webinars with key speakers from across the organization.

 

DELIVERABLES

RSC deliverables:

  • 4-6 months in Mexico CO and the remainder of the contract split between Brazil, Peru and Colombia CO's.
  • 3 x Face to Face Webinars carried out.  

CO deliverables:

  •  Relevant time spent in market.
  • Realization of the Face to Face 2017 CO workplan. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  •  At least 5 years' hands-on experience of F2F fundraising, including: Managing street teams,   budgeting, planning and management of programs, preparing materials & scripts  analysing & reporting on donor recruitment including long term attrition.
  • Thorough knowledge of face-to-face trends across multiple markets. 
  • Experience of negotiating contracts and enforcing contractual terms with F2F agencies, preferably across diverse markets.
  • It would be an advantage if the person had gained the above experience in both agency and charity environments.
  • It would also be an advantage if the person has experience of other pledge fundraising.
  • Must speak Spanish and English. Portuguese a strong advantage.
  • Proven ability to deliver to targets and demonstrated experience of results-based management.
  • Strong analytical, negotiating and communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.

 

ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE CONTRACT AND PROPOSAL

  •  8 months start May – December 2017

 

Reporting Responsibilities/supervision

The Incumbent is expected to work under the supervision of the Regional Individuals Fundraising Manager.

 

CONSULTANTS WORK PLACE

The hired consultant will work from home and the either the RSC or relevant CO. If travel is required, travel costs will be covered by UNICEF as per travel guidance.
