NRC is looking for rigorous and proactive Shelter Technical Assistant - Builder to join our team in Thessaloniki. The shelter team is currently engaged in two areas of work: Camps support through small infrastructure works; and relocation of camp residents into rented accommodation and the provision of social services
NRC Thessaloniki is now looking for candidates for the position of the Shelter Technical Assistant - Builder for the urban housing response.

Job description

  • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, and guidelines
  • Carry out a range of activities according to the relevant action plans produced by supervisors
  • Independently carry out delegated procedures and activities
  • Adhere to relevant standards and follow defined priorities
  • Develop and maintain knowledge in order to support the team
  • Promote and share ideas with the team
  • Use initiative within the limits of delegated authority
  • Attend phone calls and referred to the proper emergency agent.
  • Prepare and develop reports
  • Ensure proper filing of documents
  • Evaluate damages and prepare scope of work
  • Perform physical and manual work including (fixing windows, clearing sites, building or repairing walls, painting, fixing windows and doors, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Knowledge, experience and post-secondary, building works
  • Post-secondary education in a technical field
  • Documented proof of achieving results
  • Knowledge of English, verbal and written
  • Fluency in Greek, verbal and written
  • Knowledge of Arab, verbal and written is an asset
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience from working in a humanitarian/recovery context is an asset
  • Previous experience of working in complex and fast-changing contexts is an asset
