UNICEF works in 190 countries and territories to protect the rights of every child. UNICEF has spent 70 years working to improve the lives of children and their families. Defending children's rights throughout their lives requires a global presence, aiming to produce results and understand their effects. UNICEF believes all children have a right to survive, thrive and fulfill their potential – to the benefit of a better world.

 For every child, a future

The UNICEF Country Programme (CP) 2017 - 2020 for Cote d'Ivoire will have a sharper equity focus. In order to meet the basic needs of children and to expand their opportunities, the CP will address key barriers and bottlenecks that prevent them, particularly the most marginalized, from enjoying their full rights.  This CP will directly contribute to two out of the three outcomes of the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF)/One Program Framework (OPF) as the UN Country Team will be implementing the Delivering as One (DAO) principle effective January 2017. These two UNDAF outcomes are: (i) enhancing good governance and social cohesion and (ii) human capital development with a focus on equity and increasing access by the population – especially the most vulnerable – to basic social services and social protection.

Results will be prioritized at the following three levels: (i) Promotion of family care and protective practices that will nurture all aspects of child and adolescent development; (ii) Strengthening the availability of quality equitable services for children, adolescents and families; (iii) Supporting policy and budget changes to create an enabling environment in each of the programme areas (i.e. Child Survival and Development (Health, Nutrition and WASH), Early Childhood Development and Basic Education, Child Protection, HIV/AIDS and Adolescents, Social Inclusion, Programme Effectiveness).
