Established in 2012 NRC Jordan’s long-term outlook addresses the problems affecting life as a refugee. We work to build the resilience of Syrians, and to relieve the impact on the Jordanian communities that host them.  Syrian refugees in Jordan are struggling. As they contend with difficult living conditions across the country, the obstacles are complex. They struggle to remain registered as refugees, to provide for their families, and to access essential services – including education for their children. The Jordanian communities that host them, meanwhile, feel the impact of hosting high numbers of refugees – with each year that passes, local infrastructure becomes more strained.

Role Specific Information

The role of the Technical HR Assistant - Recruitment & Staff Development is to support the effective operation of the NRC HR Recruitment & Staff Development Unit. The Technical HR Assistant (Recruitment & Staff Development) will be responsible for maintaining of the recruitment database, providing support to the recruitment and staff development units. The Technical HR Assistant reports to HR Coordinator (Recruitment & Staff Development in Amman)

Generic responsibilities:

  • Adheres to NRC policies and procedures, handbooks and guidelines.
  • Provides basic assistance, information and/or training to staff on departments’ policies and procedures.
  • Develops own weekly activity plan or develops weekly activity plans for assigned daily labour and/or contractors.
  • Prepares and files accurate records of department activities and ensures all information is accurate and available in time.
  • Maintains working relationships with relevant local authorities and/or stakeholders.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper filing system in in place for recruitment and staff development
  • Support the Technical HR Officer in researching, organizing, coordinating job fairs and looking into new approaches to recruitment strategies
  • Support the recruitment and staff development teams in the administration of the processes e.g. contacting candidates, scheduling interviews/tests, booking training and interview rooms/venues, etc.
  • Supports recruitment team in recruitment & selection processes including interviews as requested by the line manager
  • Supports the training team in delivering trainings or part of training sessions as requested by line manager
  • Responsible for managing the recruitment data information e.g. project codes for recruitment, candidate selected etc as guided by line manager

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a university graduate with a minimum of two years previous experience in working in HR (Recruitment, staff development). Experience working in humanitarian/recovery context (desirable), have the ability to manage and prioritize a varied workload in a rapidly changing work environment, ability to work in English; good level of written/spoken English is required and good level of written Arabic is required.

We are particularly looking for a positive individual with strong communication, organization and time management skills, who can build trust and confidently navigate both internally and externally at different levels, and to have strong organizational and team work skills, good cultural awareness and sensitivity.
