We are looking for a highly qualified candidate who can fill the position of Livelihoods Assistant and will be based in Akkar office.

 
Who are we? 
DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan. 
DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.

About the job 
The Livelihoods Assistant will be based in Akkar as a member of the Cash and Livelihoods department. The Livelihoods Assistant will be under the direct supervision of the Livelihoods Officer, who is also directly working under the Area Cash and Livelihoods Manager, and will play a key role in implementing various Livelihoods programs in Akkar. S/he will work on the day-to-day implementation of the activities implemented in the field and will ensure that all assigned tasks are completed in a timely manner and are of the highest quality possible.  
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
• Actively participate in the implementation of the livelihoods activities in Akkar in a way that ensures coherence between planned activities and commitments outlined in projects proposals. 
• Assist in conducting outreach to identify and assess affected person who may be eligible to participate in the program. 
• Organize trainings as needed, including identifying venues, inviting participants, and assisting with developing the agenda. 
• Work with DRC staff and consultants on the implementation of projects related to agriculture, landscaping, and reforestation. 
• Assist with monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on project activities, as well as reporting issues and constraints arising from project implementation, as requested by the Livelihoods Officer or Area Cash and Livelihoods Manager. 
• Assist in conducting market assessment of the areas of intervention and determining program intervention priorities based on needs and existing resources. 
• Assist the Livelihood Officer during the site and municipality visits and maintain good relationships and coordination with local stakeholders and authorities.

 

About you 

To be successful in this role you must have:  
• A minimum of a Bachelor University degree; preferably related to international development, economics, and/or business

Required qualifications 

Moreover we also expect the following:

 

• 1-2 years of minimum experience with INGOs, preferably in Livelihoods, Cash, or related sectors, which would include experience with one or more the following activities: 

o Implementation of skills development and employability trainings programs 
o Implementation of Cash for Work Projects integrated in Community Support Projects 
o Cash delivery mechanism and modalities 
o Conducting market assessments 
o Community mobilization  
o Training and facilitation for staff and community groups

 

Desirable qualifications 

“Ideally, you will also have: 
• Familiarity with the agriculture, forestry, or landscaping sectors, 1-2 years of experience preferred 
 
We offer 
DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 month contract (until the end of December 2017), renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from Mid June 2017 and be willing and able to work in Akkar office. 
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Expatriates and Nationals; please refer to www.drc.ngo under Vacancies. This position will be placed at level B1 equivelent to 1250$.
