The purpose of the consultancy is to support the New Talent Unit's efforts to efficiently administer the clearance of consultancies of former and retired staff members in compliance with UNICEF Staff rules and regulations. The consultant will also support the JPO team in on-boarding, contract extensions and separations and other administrative matters as needed.

Purpose of the Assignment

The New Talent Unit, MSS/DHR, is responsible for the overall management of UNICEF’s Junior Professional Officer (JPO) programme, Interns and Volunteers, New Emerging Talent Initiative (NETI) and for UNICEF’s Global Outreach. The Unit is also responsible for clearance and data management of individual contracts.

 

The consultant will support the Unit's efforts to efficiently administer the clearance of consultancies of former and retired staff members in compliance with UNICEF Staff rules and regulations. The consultant will also support the JPO team in on-boarding, contract extensions and separations and other administrative matters as needed.

Assignment Tasks

Under direct supervision and guidance of the HR Manager, New Talent Unit, and in collaboration with other staff members in the Unit, the incumbent will perform the following tasks: 

  • Process clearance requests for former/retired staff members for NYHQ, RO, and country offices ensuring that  all requests are in compliance with UNICEF Staff Rules and Regulations on the use of Consultants and Individual Contractors

  • Advise and provide recommendations to NYHQ, RO and Country offices on the administration of Consultants and Individual Contractors in compliance with UNICEF Staff Rules and Regulations

  • Serve as the focal point for Joint Inspection Unit and provide data and feedback on UNICEF’s use of Consultants and individual Contractors

  • Assist monitoring of JPO contracts to ensure timely action for renewals and/or separation

  • Provide administrative and technical support to the JPO team

  • Other duties as requested

 
Qualifications of Successful Candidate

 

 

Education

  • University degree with specialization in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance or related field.

     

Years of relevant experience

  • A minimum of one year of progressively responsible experience in human resources management, business administration, Finance or related area, and experience working in international and multi-cultural environment.

Language

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an asset.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and able to meet deadlines.
