We are looking for a highly qualified candidate who can fit the Housing and Infrastructure Assistant position in Tripoli office. 

 
Who are we? 
DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan. 
DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.

About the job 
Assist in the implementation of housing and infrastructure related projects 
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
• Under the supervision of Housing and Infrastructure Officer to implement daily / weekly / monthly site visits and monitor ongoing works; 
• Manage contractors/workers on site and daily report to Shelter Officer; 
• Assist in drafting layouts, technical drawings and bill of quantity (BoQ) for potential sites to be rehabilitated/assisted; 
• Support in cost estimation for rehabilitation works and project design; 
• Participate in joint site visits with donors and explain technical details if needed; 
• Perform other assignments as foreseen by Housing and Infrastructure Officer, Manager and Area Manager.

Moreover we also expect the following: 

Required qualifications 
           
• Bachelor in Civil or Mechanical Engineer, Architect or other related engineering field;   
• At least 2 years of professional local experience in site supervision and construction work execution experience in non governmental organization ; 
• Experience to in preparing specifications and BOQs; 
• Demonstrated competence in the use of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD. 
• Excellent interpersonal skills and team player;

 

Desirable qualifications 

• University qualification  
• Previous experience with DRC/NGOs

 

We offer 

DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract until 31st of December 2017, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from June 2017 and be willing and able to work in Tripoli. 
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Nationals; please refer to www.drc.ngo under Vacancies. This position will be placed at level B1.
