Description of the assignment: Implementation of Prison Management Information System (PMIS)

Project name: UNODC, COPAK, Country Programme 2016 – 2019

Duty Station: Home based with frequent travel (75%) within the country

Period of assignment/services: 60 working days during the period 51 Jul – 31 Dec 2017


The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Country Office for Pakistan (COPAK) is tasked with assisting Pakistan through its Country Programme (CPII) 2016-19 with a focus on needs related to illicit trafficking and border management, criminal justice and drug demand reduction and HIV/AIDS.

UNODC Office for Pakistan (COPAK) provides support to the Government of Pakistan (GOP) to improve capacities in the management of legal and regulatory services and also to improve capacities in the management of prison services. This support includes training, equipment, technical advice and when required computer systems.

COPAK is currently assisting the GOP in developing capacity for prison monitoring systems. As part of the assistance package, the software system PMIS (Prison Management Information System) is in the process of implementation in prisons of Punjab. This consultancy will help develop effective mechanism to install and maintain the PMIS in the remaining selected prisons of Punjab.

The overall objective of the consultancy is to ensure the effective implementation and smooth operations of PMIS at 24 locations in Punjab (23 prisons, Inspectorate of Punjab Prisons and Punjab Prison College) and training for prison personnel under the UNODC Country Programme.
