1. Organizational
context
a. Organizational Setting
The post is located
in the Information and Promotion Division (IPD) of the Madrid Registry, Brands
and Designs Sector. IPD is responsible for provision of information on and
promotion of the Madrid System with a view to increasing its geographical scope
among developed, developing and least developed countries, as well as
encouraging increased use of the System in existing and new Contracting
Parties.
b. Purpose Statement
The incumbent’s role is
to initiate and evaluate Madrid System information and promotional activities, carry
out market research, produce information material to support campaigns and
general public education and awareness, and respond to requests for information
on the international registration of marks.
c. Reporting Lines
The incumbent works
under the supervision of the Officer-in-Charge of the Information and Promotion
Division.
2. Duties and responsibilities
The incumbent performs
the following principal duties\:
(a)
Implement
and evaluate promotional campaigns and activities to stimulate use of the
Madrid System in selected countries and target audiences.
(b) Carry
out market research to better understand the needs and behaviors of trademark stakeholders
and owners seeking protection for their marks abroad; use the insights gained to
tailor promotional plans and activities.
(c)
Coordinate
the Madrid External Consultant Program; liaise with relevant Divisions to
improve processes and to answer user questions raised by the consultants.
(d) Develop
promotional materials and collateral, including print, web-based and multimedia
products, relating to the Madrid System.
(e)
Organize
and participate in promotional meetings and activities at WIPO headquarters and
abroad to stimulate interest in and knowledge of the international system for
registration of marks, and to reply to specific enquiries.
(f)
Represent
the organization at meetings and conferences of private sector representatives
to provide guidance and advice on use of the Madrid System.
(g)
Perform
other related duties as required.
3. Requirements
Education
Essential
First-level university
degree in communications, marketing, public relations, management,
administration or other relevant field.
Experience
Essential
At least six years of
professional experience in communications, marketing, public relations, public information
or a related field.
Experience
in the promotion of use of intellectual property rights in either a public or
private sector setting.
Desirable
Experience working in an international
setting and/or multicultural environment.
Languages
Essential
Excellent written and spoken
knowledge of English.
Desirable
Knowledge
of French and/or Spanish.
