External Emergency Roster staff are deployed to support either existing country programs in their emergency response, or to initiate a new program in the crisis zone. Response personnel are also responsible for supporting the transfer of responsibilities and knowledge to the long-term staff to ensure the continuity of UNICEF programming and operations. Our HR database provides qualified pre-screened, potential candidates for humanitarian response.

UNICEF Regional Office for MENA is seeking external candidates who are interested in becoming members of its emergency recruitment database, especially in the following key areas:

  1. Emergency Coordination
  2. Education in Emergency
  3. Water and Sanitation – WASH
  4. Information Management (IM)
  5. Nutrition
  6. Child Protection
  7. Social Policy
  8. Health
  9. Procurement/Supply/Logistics
  10. Human Resources Management
  11. Information Communications Technology (ICT)
  12. Finance
  13. Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)/Evidence generation
  14. Administration
  15. Operations 

 

To qualify to be a champion for every child in the MENA region you will have……

Applicants should be external to UNICEF i.e. individuals on temporary appointments, retirees and spouses of UN/UNICEF staff members or current/former UNICEF International Consultants.

 

National Officer (NO) Category – NOA, NOB, NOC, NOD

Education:

  1. First degree required for NOA, NOB level from an accredited academic institution.
  2. An Advanced University Degree* (Masters or equivalent) from an accredited institution for NOC and above.

Experience:

  1. Minimum 3 years for NOA and NOB
  2. Minimum 5 years for NOC
  3. Minimum 8 years for NOD
  4. National or field work experience
  5. Be located in the Middle East and North Africa Region.
  6. Be ready to take assignments in humanitarian crisis locations

Language: Fluency in English and Arabic is required.

 

International Professional (IP) Category – P1, P2, P3, P4, P5

Education:

  1. First degree required for P1 and P2 level from an accredited institution.
  2. An Advanced University Degree* (Masters or equivalent) from an accredited institution for P3 and above.

 

Experience:

  1. Progressively responsible relevant professional experience (preferably with international organizations)
  2. Minimum 3 years for P1 and P2
  3. Minimum 5 years for P3
  4. Minimum 8 years for P4
  5. Minimum 10 years for P5
  6. Relevant experience in the specific technical area being applied for.
  7. International and Developing country work experience.
  8. Be willing to work in the Middle East and North Africa Region.
  9. Be ready to take assignments in humanitarian crisis locations
  10. Background/familiarity with Emergency. For P3 and above, 3 years experience must be in an emergency duty station, responding to natural disasters and civil conflict.
  11. Working language of the MENA region is an asset.

     

Language: Fluency in English required, knowledge of Arabic and French is an incentive.
