NRC is looking for rigorous and proactive Shelter Technical Assistant to join our team in Thessaloniki. The shelter team is currently engaged in two areas of work: Camps support through small infrastructure works; and relocation of camp residents into rented accommodation and the provision of social services
NRC Thessaloniki is now looking for candidates for the position of the Shelter Technical Assistant for the urban housing response.

Job description

  • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, and guidelines
  • Carry out a range of activities according to the relevant action plans produced by supervisors
  • Independently carry out delegated procedures and activities
  • Adhere to relevant standards and follow defined priorities
  • Develop and maintain knowledge in order to support the team
  • Promote and share ideas with the team
  • Use initiative within the limits of delegated authority
  • Prepare and develop reports
  • Ensure proper filing of documents
  • Identify and inspect accommodation
  • Evaluate the suitability and cost effectiveness of buildings that require conversion or rehabilitation
  • Prepare technical documentation including technical scopes, specifications, drawings, bill of quantities (BoQ) and support preparation of procurement documents Present NRC projects to stakeholders including community members, building owners, government officials and project beneficiaries

Qualifications

  • Knowledge, experience and post-secondary qualifications in architecture, engineering, construction, building maintenance and/or real estate
  • Post-secondary education in a technical field
  • Documented proof of achieving results
  • Knowledge of English, verbal and written
  • Fluency in Greek, verbal and written
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience from working in a humanitarian/recovery context is an asset
  • Previous experience of working in complex and fast-changing contexts is an asset
