The Danish Refugee Council in Greece is looking for passionate, creative and friendly physical exercise trainer   for the unique opportunity of training women and teenagers in Rafina Site. 
 
 
Introduction
 
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and non-profit organization, founded in 1956, that works in 40 countries around the world. 
DRC’s mandate is driven by three global strategic objectives within the DRC Assistance Framework: Saving lives and alleviation of immediate suffering among people affected by conflict, Safeguarding, restoration and development of livelihoods, Institutional and organizational change that contributes to protection of people’s rights and peaceful handling of conflict 
 
 
Background   
 
DRC has been operating in Greece since December 2015, providing support to the Greek Ministry of Migration Policy in ensuring dignified reception conditions for refugees and migrants arriving on Lesvos island. In March 2016, DRC expanded its operations in Athens area, Larissa and Thessaloniki in response to the changing context and the build-up of refugee population on mainland Greece. 
 
 
Purpose  
 
We are looking for imaginative, creative, positive and friendly people who know the big difference sports and sportsmanship can have in a person’s life and can start as soon as possible.  
 
 
The main responsibilities include: 
 
  • Train participants 
  • Plan games  
  • Create and foster an environment that promotes sportsmanship. 
  • Work with DRC staff in acquiring all necessary materials for the activities.  
 
 
Required Qualifications  
 
  • Fluent in Farsi or Arabic is a strong advantage but does not eliminate any other Greek or English speaking candidate, since teenagers and women have been joining basic Greek and English classes for the last months.  
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Being patient 
  • Experience in physical exercise trainings 
  • You must be energetic, enthusiastic and able to motivate others 
  • Previous experience working in a multicultural environment is a strong advantage.   
  • Previous work experience in a volunteer group or international organization is advantage. 
  • Able to commit for at least 2 months, minimum 6 hours per week. 
 
 
Skills & Qualities  
 
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, experienced in working with different groups, partners and nationalities 
  • Strong initiative and self-motivated, with a commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles 
  • Flexible, enthusiastic  
 
 
General Regulations  
 
The volunteer shall follow DRC instructions on safety, confidentiality and ethical guidelines, including the Code of Conduct, the Child Safeguarding Policies and the Humanitarian Accountability Framework.
