We are looking for a highly qualified candidate who can fit the position of GBV / Protection Capacity Building Officer  in Akkar. 

 
Who are we? 
DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan. 
DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.

About the job 
The Capacity Building Officer has the responsibility to build the technical capacity of local partners (non-governmental organizations) and Social Development Centers (managed by the Ministry of Social Affairs-MoSA) on Protection as well as the internal training of DRC staff in Akkar. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
• Support and lead the partnership selection process through: preliminary meetings with partners, supporting DRC’s comprehensive partnership assessment, drafting an overall capacity building plan for potential partners, presenting DRC’s strategy, programs and projects for child protection and GBV and supporting partners to submit the needed documentation for partnership (MoU, Contract, Logframe, Budget, Organigram and Narrative) 
• Undertake the technical capacity assessments of potential local partners and SDCs on GBV and Child protection activities (including reflection workshops) using the internal protection capacity building toolkit, and in coordination with the Protection Manager. 
• Provide trainings on general protection, child protection and gender based violence based on the harmonized training packages to local partners, SDCs and internal staff. 
• Liaise closely with the operational departments to ensure the operational capacity building of CBOs. 
• Produce monthly reports on the progression of the capacity building projects, and contribute to the overall protection reporting process, to underline protection issues and related trends in coordination with the Protection Manager. 
• Hold regular meetings with partners to follow up on the capacity building plan and implementation successes and challenges. 
• Understand and follow up on activities and assess progress of implementation, provide solutions and report issues when needed, in coordination with the Protection Manager 
• Ensure implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools and report on problems in the implementation of the program 
• Immediately flag roadblocks in the partnership to the Protection Manager and Partnership Coordinator. 
• Coordinate program implementation through regular meetings with donors and all other local and international actors.

 

 

About you 
To be successful in this role you must have:

 

• Bachelor in law, Social work, Psychology, women’s studies, gender studies, counseling,  or another related field or Master degree in gender studies, social work and/or psychology. 

• Strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail. 
• Experience in conducting training needs analysis/assessments and developing training programs for a broad range of audiences from different institutional levels including coaching, training and supervision of staff. 
• Excellent knowledge of GBV guiding principles and core concepts and Child Protection minimum standards. 
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving and facilitation skills. 
• Flexibility in working overtime when needed and ability to work flexible hours. 
• Strong written and oral communication skills, effective in representation and liaison with external parties.

Moreover we also expect the following: 

Required qualifications 
• At least 2 to 3 years of experience, working in international organizations and humanitarian settings,  specifically in implementing and supervising CP and GBV prevention and response activities. 
• Previous experience working with Syrian refugees in Lebanon 
• Experience in management and leading team-building activities 
• Experience and knowledge of CP/GBV case management basic principles. 
• Proven experience in undertaking trainings and capacity building initiatives 
• Experience in building capacities of and providing direct technical support to CBOs and SDCs

 

Desirable qualifications

Ideally, you will also have:   

• Fluency in Arabic is a must 
• Ability to communicate and write clearly in English 
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel)

 

 

We offer 
DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract till the end of December 2017, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from the June 2017 and be willing and able to work in Akkar. 
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Expatriates and Nationals; please refer to www.drc.ngo under Vacancies. This position will be placed at level C1, equivalent to 1,650$ per month.
