Join our dedicated team and contribute to the work on modernizing UNICEF’s statistical infrastructure, putting in place modern tools for data compilation, data processing and analysis and data dissemination throughout UNICEF globally. You will be able to lead the process of developing a new data management platform that will use new technologies and enhanced processes to help propel UNICEF’s data architecture. The new platform will facilitate access by internal and external development professionals to child-related data and improve the quality, timeliness and documentation of the data.

UNICEF supports governments to more effectively use data about children to inform investment decisions, policies and programmes, as well as to strengthen national data collection and analysis systems. UNICEF plays a key role in developing, testing and disseminating new data-related tools and methodologies. UNICEF’s own data bases and data analyses inform policy dialogue, advocacy and campaigning at country, regional and global levels.

With the emphasis on data in the Sustainable Development Goals and the rapid evolution of data-related technologies, UNICEF data work will become even more crucial in advancing results for disadvantages children in the years ahead.

How can you make a difference?

To make a difference, these are some of the main areas you are needed to contribute in:

  1. Lead the delivery of statistical data management infrastructure;
  2. Coordinate implementation of data warehouse for use at country, regional and global level at UNICEF;
  3. Coordinate population of data warehouse;
  4. Lead roll-out and awareness raising of data.

To qualify as a champion for every child, you will have…

  • An Advanced University Degree (Master's) in management information systems, computer science, business administration, information technology management or other related social science field
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in information technology systems or statistical information management

Proven experience in:

  • One or several of the following areas; Statistical Information Management or Dissemination; Web/Mobile solutions, Data management and Business intelligence solutions; Technical Architecture, IT Applications, IT Operations
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and resources concurrently, including ability to assess benefits, risks, and costs
  • Delivering on ICT initiatives in a large and decentralized organization
  • Experience with SDMX implementation at the national or international level
  • Experience with web services architecture, including XML and JSON based data APIs and visualization technologies such as D3 and Tableau
