SCA Background

The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) has been working in Afghanistan since 1982, presently managing development programmes concerning Health, Education, Rural Livelihoods and Community Governance, with a total annual budget of roughly USD 40 million. The total number of staff is around 5,500. During the last 10 years SCA has undertaken a change process moving from a primarily humanitarian service delivery approach towards more of a developmental role, putting increasing emphasis on capacity development, rights-based programming and outcome orientation. The mission of SCA is to empower individuals, communities and local organizations, primarily in rural areas and with particular focus on women, girls, boys and vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, so that they may participate fully in society and influence their own development. Scope of work:

The Nutrition Supervisor is responsible for smooth implementation of Nutrition program in the province as well as to analyses the nutrition data collected from the targeted health facilities. Also he/she will strengthen a good relation and coordination with all stake holders such as PHD, UNICEF, WFP, etc.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Have Medical Degree from a recognized university
  • At least one-year experience in Nutrition program.
  • Being oriented with BPHS and EPHS program 
  • Previous experience in Laghman will be an advantage
  • Good communication skills (written and spoken) of Pashto, Dari & English
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Demonstrated skills in health management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good supervisory, leadership, analytical and trouble shooting skills Computer skills at operator level, especially with Ms. Office package
  • Be an Afghan citizen.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To asses and evaluate that nutrition health activities are in accordance to plan and regulations,
  • To improve quality of complementary foods and prevent anemia
  • Develop action plan for effective monitoring of nutrition status in health facilities.
  • To apply national treatment guideline and policies of nutrition at health facility level
  • To ensure the existence of growth m monitoring tools, IMAM (Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition) supervision and Sufficient drug supply of malnutrition.
  • Ensured activities aimed at public nutrition, including assessment of nutrition status in the province
  • Ensured preventive activities of malnutrition are based on the BPHS and MOPH guidelines
  • Endured screening and monitoring of under-5 children and PLW (Pregnant and Lactating Women) at health facility level
  • To ensure the existence of IEC (Information Education Communication) material for awareness of community
  • Promote good coordination with other SCA units in the office.
  • Monitor implementation of the program in the field.
  • Any other task assigned by the line manager
