The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

  1. Role and responsibilities

     

    The Education Database Officer is responsible for contributing to the development of Education procedures in the North by daily organising and maintaining the Education Database and preparing relevant reports in line with NRC’s strategy and standards

    Generic Responsibilities

  1. Elaborate and maintain outputs database on a daily basis based on field data collection sheet
  2. Prepare data collection sheet for assistants
  3. Carry out data collection as required
  4. Prepare surveys as required
  5. Coordinate with the M&E department on data sharing
  6. Prepare targets monitoring reports on a weekly basis
  7. Prepare donor monthly indicators database

     

    Specific responsibilities

  • Elaborate, maintain and update Education outputs database on a daily basis with data collected (paper and electronic)
  • Upload Education data to DHIS, Activity Info & NRC’s internal reporting system (or any other platform as needed)
  • Prepare distribution & activity sheets for education Assistants.
  • Assist in organizing and undertake surveys, FGDs, and questionnaires to monitor program implementation and impact; ensure collation of results
  • Participate in data collection and monitoring activities, as required
  • Launch and receive daily phone calls for beneficiaries (hotline referrals)
  • Document all the phone calls from beneficiaries for the different activities and share it regularly
  • Perform field visits as requested by the line manager, and support Education team
  • Receive, update and follow up on referrals (Other NGOs, Field Referrals, Online Referrals)

    By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:

    • M&E technical specialist, M&E Database Assistant
    • Other NRC core competencies staff

       

1. Professional competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences information and data management, business management or other relevant fields
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience in information management and analysis
  • Good understanding of M&E approaches and techniques
  • IT skills (knowledge of Excel essential; knowledge of Google Earth, Access, Mobenzi/Kobo or other database system preferred; knowledge of SPSS or other data analysis software)
  • Previous experience in working in complex and volatile context is a Plus.
  • Fluency in both Arabic and English/French, written and spoken
