The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is a strategic public-private partnership between UNEP and the global financial sector. UNEP FI works with approximately 220 financial institutions, which are signatories to the UNEP FI Statements of Environmental Commitment, and a range of partners and organisations, to develop and promote linkages between the environment, sustainability and financial performance. Through its working groups and regional activities, comprehensive work programme, training and research, UNEP FI carries out its mission to identify, promote, and realize the adoption of best environmental and sustainability practice at all levels of financial institution strategies and operations.

The consultant will carry out the core responsibilities as a Graphic Designer and engagement with the private sector which are integral to the work of all the work-streams of UNEP FI. The consultant is expected to create an effective visual communication for all the work-streams to and improve the delivery of information to all intended parties. These services will be used to develop the private sector strategy component of the UNEP FI Work Programme over the coming years.

Functional Responsibilities

In line with the work programme delivered during the UNEP FI Annual General Meetings and approved by UNEP, and under the direct supervision of the Head of UNEP FI, the consultant is expected to create an effective visual communication for all the work-streams to improve the delivery of information to the intended parties.

Outputs and deliverables

Global Round Table/Annual General Meeting

With the content that is provided create and update the following items (in English and Arabic) for the meeting:

  • Complete brochure/flyer; Print and web banners;
  • Website content and updates; Marketing & promotional material;
  • Conference programme
  • Design the different set of slides (3sets – 15 slides) that will be presented by the Secretariat at the Annual General Meeting

Banking Commission:

  • Design of the Positive Impact Principles report and of the accompanying set of slides
  • Design of the Revised Positive Impact Manifesto Report
  • Design of communication and outreach documents for the Positive Impact Principle consultation
  • Design of the Sustainability and Banking Guide

Climate

  • Demystifying Private Adaptation Finance

Ecosystems

  • Design of a 1 pager for the Ecosystems Work-stream
  • Design of the NCD Opportunities scoping study: May - 40 pages.
  • Design of the NCD NCA working paper: June - 40 pages.
  • Design a new NCD brochure - 8 pages.
  • Design the NCD Risk mapping: August - 5 pages.
  • Design of the Results based finance for REDD+ report
  • Design of the Demystifying Private REDD+ Finance report

Investment Commission

  • Design of the Japanese version of the Real Estate Metrics Framework of the Property Working Group

Communications:

  • Provide design assistance for the UNEP FI website and its content management.
  • Design regular (bi-monthly) info-graphics explaining the key messages from each commission and work-stream/theme. These info-graphics will form an integral part of the marketing of each commission and theme and will be used both in printed and digital forms.
  • Provide support and any outstanding design elements for Launch of new website
  • Branded Word and Excel templates that can be used by the whole team – by end of June.
  • Prepare info-graphic for key UNEP FI achievements for online promotion.
  • Design 1 page flyer for all UNEP FI activities, work-streams and thematic

Non activity specific:

  • Provide design assistance for the UNEP FI website and its content management.
  • Design regular (bi-monthly) info-graphics explaining the key messages from each commission and work-stream/theme. These info-graphics will form an integral part of the marketing of each commission and theme and will be used both in printed and digital forms.

Education

  • Minimum advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in arts, design or other related field is required
  • A combination of a first university degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) in the above subject areas with an additional 2 years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the education requirements outlined above.

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years working experience in the field of graphic design – design of publications, websites, visual design, etc. 

Languages

  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.
  • Knowledge of French or another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Contract type, level and duration
