We are looking for a highly qualified individual to fill-in the vacancy of Logistics Assistant to work in Damascus under employment contract.

Who are we?

DRC has been working in the MENA region since 2003 and is currently one of the few international organizations registered and operating legally in the countries of Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Libya and Jordan. Since 2013, DRC has been operating as the largest INGO responding to the Syrian crisis in Syria and Lebanon and has assisted over 1 million refugees and IDPs a year. DRC has been actively operating in Syria since 2008, mainly supporting refugees. In June 2012, DRC was authorized by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) to expand its humanitarian efforts and provide assistance to IDPs and the vulnerable resident population countrywide. Since then, DRC activities have been focused on NFI distributions, Shelter, WASH, Protection, Education, Livelihood and Mine Risk Education in six Governorates (Damascus, Rural Damascus, Dara'a, Aleppo, Hama, and Homs).

 

About the job

Support the procurement in looking after DRC premises including main office, guest houses, warehouses and community centres.

This job is based in Damascus with frequent movement outside office in Damascus and Rural Damascus

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in tracking the list of DRC assets and update it regularly.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly inventory list, ensuring having updated information.
  • Making sure that the supply and provision back-up needs are converted and configured into procurement and purchasing events by the compiled logistics undertakings and work operations with respect to their components
  • Impersonating and representing various logistics enhancement project undertakings, tasks, duties, jobs and workings
  • Assist in ingoing and outgoing correspondences with insurance company
  • Follow up on the insurance of office equipment’s, payment of the instalments and claims from insurance company
  • Administer, supervise, direct and oversee the payload, cargo and consignment business dealing methods, operations and procedures on a regular basis.
  • Assist in DRC properties rental agreements, payments and terminations as per contract
  • Responsible for preparing the (GRNs) good received notes considering 3-way matching principle and other logistics principles.
  • Provide administrative assistance for the community centres in Daraa and Homs

    To be successful in this role you must have:

    • High school degree
    • University degree in Business Administration or relevant education is preferable.
    • Good skills in Microsoft office
    • Advanced computer skills and good skills of database software is preferable
    • Minimum two years experience in similar field, with proven field work experience
    • logistics and admin experienceis preferable
    •  Good command of both written and spoken English & Arabic is a must.
    •  Full respect for client/organization confidentiality is a definite pre-requisite
    •  Ability to work in a multicultural environment with flexibility and respect for all team members

We offer

DRC will offer the successful applicant a six month contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National Staff for the Assistant level.
