NRC in Jordan

Established in 2012 NRC Jordan’s long-term outlook addresses the problems affecting life as a refugee. We work to build the resilience of Syrians, and to relieve the impact on the Jordanian communities that host them.  Syrian refugees in Jordan are struggling. As they contend with difficult living conditions across the country, the obstacles are complex. They struggle to remain registered as refugees, to provide for their families, and to access essential services – including education for their children. The Jordanian communities that host them, meanwhile, feel the impact of hosting high numbers of refugees – with each year that passes, local infrastructure becomes more strained.

 

Role Specific Information

The Project Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of the NRC Jordan Education intervention in Azraq Camp. This includes the management of educational support interventions including: teacher training, different kind of education packages, delivery of teaching and learning materials, involving parents and community and building their skills as well as psychosocial and psycho-educational interventions. The role will also include the management and capacity building of NRC staff both under direct supervision and oversees staff. 

 

Generic responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and implement the delivery of the education project in Azraq Camp according to strategy, targets and plans developed by NRC in coordination with partners.
  • Ensure adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements when implementing the project.
  • Ensure that high standards of staff security, beneficiary participation and child-protection are upheld in all activities.
  • Responsibility for relevant project budget management.
  • Develop monthly and quarterly activity plans in coordination with colleagues.
  • Supervise, train and develop education staff in accordance with development plans and work plans. (Line management of 1 Team Leader 1 officer and supervisory responsibility for approximately another 6 staff).
  • Work with the Project Coordinator Technical and Policy to ensure that necessary technical interventions are supported and rolled out.
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities
  • Cooperate with relevant partners and local authorities.
  • Weekly and monthly activity/project reports and other reporting as required
  • Ensure proper record keeping of all project documents including
  • Ensure proper project data keeping, record and validation. 

 

Specific responsibilities:

  • Build the technical intervention in Azraq Camp to deliver high quality technical support to the education system.
  • Build the capacity of the education team to respond to the psychosocial needs of learners and institutionalise ways of working that will support this.
  • Build the capacity of national staff to move higher into positions of greater responsibility.
  • Build the capacity of beneficiaries to take a more active role in the running of the learning centres.
  • Work with the Project Manager Education to develop a relevant and timely response including at time of emergency.
  • Work with staff to develop new interventions based on participatory needs assessments.
  • Mainstream conflict and gender sensitive education approach
  • Contribute to or co-chair the Education Working Groups Azraq Camp when relevant and nominated.
  • Draft proposals for new activities for the continuation of ongoing activities, in coordination with the Project Manager. Contribute to the maintenance of good donor relationship and expanded donor base.
  • Acting PM when relevant and if nominated. 

 

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a university graduate, with a minimum of 3 years previous experience working in humanitarian environment, experience in education and youth projects, experience in coordination management, supervisor or expert position, team leader, INGO’s, grants management, M&E.  Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

We are particularly looking for a positive individual with strong communication skills, who can build trust and confidently navigate both internally and externally at different levels.

Salary/benefits: 2227 JDs subject to social security
