We are looking for a highly qualified, independent Household Economic Approach Consultant to join our DRC office in Algeria.

Who are we?

DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. Since April 2016, the DRC Algeria team has sought to implement relevant, coordinated and effective livelihood support to the Sahrawi youth that utilizes their full potential. DRC intervention will include the provision of life skills training, quick impact projects related to social opportunities for youth, provision of business development training, and distribution of small grants to start up or expand micro, small, or medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Executive Summary
  • Introduction to HEA: background to HEA and Key Concepts; contents of the Livelihood Profiles.
  • Methodology followed
  • HEA baseline findings  

    About you

    To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Substantial experience in Household Economic Approach Baseline (HEA) and research.
  • At least 5 years’ experience with International NGOs and/or NGO sector in the design and implementation of HEA for livelihood support projects.
  • At least 2 HEA undertaken for NGOs and/or public institutions within the last two years.
  • Prior experience leading and conducting HEA assessments.
  • Proven research and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with community-based and participatory approaches to research.

    Moreover, we also expect the following:

  • Post-graduate degree in economics, social sciences or relevant development-oriented subject.
  • Essential: English C1 / C2 and Spanish B2 / C1
  •   
               Ideally, you will also have:
    • previous experience in Saharawi refugee camps.
    • French B2 / C1 and Arabic B2 / C1

    We offer

    DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 weeks contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from 21/08/2017 and be willing and able to work in Rabouni/Tindouf, Algeria.
