Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading

Jalalabad, Kandahar, Herat and Mazar-i-Sharif and a portfolio in 2016 of USD 13

About
the job:
Under
the direct supervision of the Senior Livelihoods & Empowerment Officer, the
Livelihood Officer – FS/NUTRITION is overall responsible to ensure that the
implementation of DRC Afghanistan’s Food Security and Nutrition activities
integrated in the food security project in the assigned area of responsibility
is guided in accordance with approved methodologies and tools and are in line
with DRC and donor policies and guidelines. The Livelihood Officer –
FS/NUTRITION will be working in cooperation with DRC’s protection and emergency
teams and in collaboration with local authorities and communities. In addition
he/she will be tasked of reporting and when requested engaged in monitoring,
evaluation and learning activities.
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the
Senior LH&E Officer and based on technical advice and inputs of the
Technical Program Specialist FOOD SECURITY (&NUTRITION) and Emergency
Senior Managers
First Phase (first 5-6 months of
the project)
- Coordinating, leading and conducting rapid sectorial needs and market assessments in the field;
- Data collection by using needs assessment and post distribution monitoring questionnaires. Data collection to be done either via paper forms or through digital equipment;
- Participate in beneficiary selection processes through agreed criteria and guidelines;
- Coordinating and conducting emergency field distributions (Cash) in accordance to agreed criteria and guidelines;
- To contribute actively on conducting baseline/ end line surveys through interview of individual beneficiaries and focus group discussions;
- Produce basic reports on needs assessments and distributions;
- When requested, to join and support the DRC flying emergency team outside the normal area of operation in rapid needs assessments (in case of natural disaster or massive displacement).
Second phase (6-17 months of the
project)
- Prepare detailed activity implementation plans for the activities:
- Food Preparation & Preservation (incl. Processing)
- Community Nutritional awareness campaigns/sessions
- Children’s nutrition education program
- Provide technical activity inputs to the Technical Program Specialist FOOD SECURITY (&NUTRITION) for the design of the activities;
- Provide regular report and feedback on the status and effectiveness of the activities to the Technical Program Specialist FOOD SECURITY (&NUTRITION);
- Manage the implementation in accordance with the implementation plan and overall project goals and objectives;
- Conduct trainings, awareness sessions and any other activities in the field as part of the implementation plan;
- Collect data related to the activities. Carry out need assessment missions and collect secondary data and information supplied. Put forward recommendations for the definition and elaboration of programs;
- Responsible for data quality and verification of all FS/Nutrition activities data at field level and appropriate storage;
- Ensures liaison with the communities, maintaining links with shuras and elders, engaging consistently with beneficiaries and other relevant stakeholders, specifically education relevant partners;
- Responsible for logistical implementation of FS/Nutrition activities, including delivery of goods to the sites;
- Closely liaise with Livelihood Officer - Agriculture to seek synergies and ensure holistic program implementation. Act as back-up of Livelihood Officer - Agriculture in his/her absence
- Any other required tasks assigned by line manager
About
you
To
be successful in this role you must have:
Experience, Education and Qualification:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree required in Nutrition or other related field
- Minimum of 4 years of experience required in implementing Nutrition interventions (additional experience in emergency responses an added value)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience required with Nutrition programs for children within humanitarian and/or development organizations
- Experience to address behavior change issues in improving household food security and nutrition status through community outreach activities
- Experience in working with Food Security Indicators: FCS, HDDS, MUAC, Negative Food Coping Strategies
- Experience with start-up of new projects
- Demonstrated team working and problem solving skills
- Reporting skills
- Computer using skills specially Ms. Excel and Ms. Word

We
offer:
DRC-DDG will offer the successful applicant a contract till the end of 2017, renewable dependent on both funding and performance.
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national staff. This position will be placed at salary Grade D, level 1, basic 745 USD.
