About the job: 
 
 
Under the direct supervision of the Livelihoods & Empowerment Coordinator, the Technical Program Specialist FOOD SECURITY (&NUTRITION) will be tasked to provide Technical Leadership and Expertise for the Food Security program and related nutrition activities. The incumbent will be actively involved in capacity building and quality control at field level, development of methodology/SoPs and external representation at different fora including but not limited with the FSAC Cluster. 
 
 
Responsibilities: 
 
 
  • Responsible for technical detailed program and activity design; 
  • Develop all technical FS/Nutrition documents related to the program, including but not limited to training manuals and plans, information brochures and leaflets; 
  • Provide technical assistance and direction to area field staff for the implementation and monitoring of project activities; 
  • Prepares and coordinates inputs from the area offices for 
  • 1) DRC and donor reporting for the project 
  • 2) inputs, updates and reports to FSAC and Nutrition clusters 
  • Leads workshops, training and other capacity building activities to support implementation in the area offices; 
  • Seeks support for linkages and collaborations with other organizations to meet project needs; 
  • Collaborates with other FS/Nutrition actors on technical issues; 
  • Provide technical, policy and operational support to staff at regional offices with respect to targeting, gender equality, women’s empowerment and social inclusion; 
  • Take initiatives to collect data and conduct analysis to monitor the effectiveness of the program and disseminate learnings.  Monitor and analyze key FS/Nutrition indicators relevant to the program.  
  • Responsible for data quality and verification of all technical data and appropriate storage and management of databases; 
  • Undertake field missions to support the area field staff, to assess program progress and proposes improvements and modifications; 
  • Support LH&E operational team with other operational activities, for example needs assessment in the area of operation; 
  • Any other task assigned by line manager. 
 
 
About you 
 
 
To be successful in this role you must have: 
 
 
Education: 
 
 
Minimum Bachelor’s degree required in Food Security, Nutrition or other related field. Post-graduate education (master’s or higher) preferred. 
 
 
Experience and Qualification:  
 
 
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience required in implementing Food Security interventions 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience required with Nutrition programs for children 
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and set-up of Food Security and Nutrition programs 
  • Demonstrated experience to address behavior change issues in improving household food security and nutrition status 
  • Demonstrated abilities and experience in monitoring and evaluation of Food Security interventions 
  • Expertise in working with Food Security Indicators: FCS, HDDS, MUAC, Negative Food Coping Strategies 
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, collaboration experience, creativity and willingness to innovate

We offer: 
 
 
DRC-DDG will offer the successful applicant a contract till the end of 2017, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. 
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national staff. This position will be placed at salary Grade C, level 1, basic 1,155 USD.
