We are looking for a highly qualified, independent to join our DRC/DDG team in Libya.

Who are we?

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organisation founded in 1956 that works in more than 30 countries throughout the world. DRC fulfils its mandate by providing direct assistance to conflict-affected and vulnerable populations – refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities in the conflict areas of the world; and by advocating on behalf of conflict-affected populations internationally. DRC has been working in the Maghreb region, including Libya, Tunisia and Algeria since 2011.   

 The Danish Refugee Council in Libya is in the process of establishing a 4Mi network of monitors and implement migration flow monitoring in multiple locations throughout the country. 4Mi – the Mixed Migration Monitoring Mechanism Initiative – was first implemented by the Regional Mixed Migration Secretariat (RMMS) in Nairobi for the Horn of Africa region. 4Mi data gathering mechanism ensures an improved data collection and enable an enhanced authoritative analysis of migration flows in the region. Interviews will be conducted with migrants, asylum seekers and host communities within Libya. 4MI will, in large part, be responsible for the development of knowledge products that place the Libyan situation in the larger context of protection concerns faced by migrants and asylum seekers throughout Africa.

 

About the job

Under the supervision of the 4Mi Project Manager, manage and analyze data compiled by 4Mi Monitors and support project implementation. Ensure daily communication and support to field-based 4Mi monitors and various project partners.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Closely manage and support the training of 4Mi Monitors, as well as review their monthly submissions, and process payments and provide timely feedback to field monitors.
  • Monitor 4Mi data submissions and work closely with Finance department to make timely payments for all field-based monitors
  • Work in close collaboration the 4Mi ICT4D Officer
  • Qualitative information made available on monthly and quarterly basis concerning conditions en route, violations, number of deaths and disappearances, protection risks, economy of smuggling and trafficking, migrant intentions and aspirations etc.
  • Support the administration, operations, and management of the 4Mi project
  • Liaise closely with partners, contractors, key informants, contacts and other interlocutors critical to the success of this project
  • Support the 4Mi Project Manager on the creation of a communications strategy for dissemination of 4Mi outputs
  • To analyze, and organize data and be adept at some analysis and interpretation of large quantities of data in Microsoft Excel.
  • Any additional work tasks in support of the 4Mi management.
 
 About you

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated command of working with large quantities of data in Microsoft Excel and being able to conduct trends analysis.
  • Understanding of IT systems, including Microsoft Office Suite and android-based smart phone settings and applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working effectively in a team and/or managing projects remotely with team members of various cultural background.
  • High level of organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce cogent analyses for a wide variety of audiences.
  • Maintains confidentiality on programming operations.
  • Must work closely and collaboratively with 4Mi international staff in analyzing combined information sources.
  • Enthusiastic about learning and pushing technical limits and finding new solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication aptitude.

    Moreover, we also expect the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, including but not limited to international relations, public administration, business administration, political science, sociology, psychology, human resources, communication, social science, journalism, or international development
  • Written and verbal fluency in English, French and Arabic

 

We offer

DRC will offer the successful applicant a 5 months contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from 17/07/2017 and be willing and able to work in Tripoli, Libya.
