NORCAP rosters’ experts work with UN agencies, humanitarian organizations, development actors and national stakeholders to build save lives, build resilient communities, ensure peaceful transitions from conflict and promote sustainable governance.
NORCAP is currently seeking Protection specialists with significant technical expertise and proven skills in capacity building, coordination and advocacy work around mixed migration and counter trafficking.
Job description
◦The exact job description will vary with each assignment. The responsibilities for a counter trafficking and mixed migration speacialt may include conducting field assessments and/or situational analysis to determine needs and gaps in protection of migrants;
◦Further enhance capacities and improve practices of government authorities, national institutions and civil society organizations, dealing with asylum and migration issues, involving all relevant partners/stakeholders.
◦Outreach and coordination to enhance referral mechanisms for persons with possible international protection needs and other persons with specific needs.
◦Collect and consolidate data on mixed migration, arrivals, departures and interception draft regular reports.
◦Enhance border monitoring and information sharing through partners and when possible, authorities and other regional offices. Develop protection policy related to refugee protection and durable solutions within mixed migration contexts.
◦Support in developing SOPs and enhanced case management with/for implementing partners.
◦Ensure that protection mainstreaming is integrated into all relevant programmes; proactively engage with donors to raise additional funds.
Qualifications
◦5 years of relevant humanitarian experience in Counter trafficking / Mixed migration◦Extensive knowledge of protection humanitarian programming
◦Higher university degree in a social science or related discipline
◦Experience in capacity building and coordination
◦Demonstrable understanding of the UN agencies’ mandates, and the main humanitarian frameworks and tools
◦Fluency in English. French, Spanish and/or Arabic are considered strong assets
Education level
- College / University, Master / Phd grade
Personal qualities
◦Ability to work in a collaborative manner with team members and with multiple stakeholders at various levels from national to sub-national and community levels.◦Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including cultural sensitivity.
◦Demonstrated ability to work effectively in highly stressful situations.
