We are looking for experienced Livelihoods Outreach Assistant to be based in Karak. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that the target beneficiary population in Karak municipality is informed on and mobilized for the activities and services that are available to them. 
 
 
Who are we? 
 
DRC is an international non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. With the vision that no displaced person must be in want of help to find protection and durable solutions, DRC provides assistance and protection to conflict-affected in many of the major conflicts in Asia, Africa and Middle East. The assistance can consist of relief and other humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and support to returning home, and the promotion of durable solutions. 
 
 
About the job 
 
In the South of Jordan, DRC will be implementing a year-long livelihoods project in coordination with UNHCR. DRC is looking for a Livelihoods Outreach Assistant to be based in Karak. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that the target beneficiary population in Karak municipality is informed on and mobilized for the activities and services that are available to them. The Livelihoods Outreach Assistant will be based in DRC’s Karak Community Center and report to the Senior Livelihoods Officer. 
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
 
• Meet with the communities (Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians) in their living areas in order to systematically and efficiently provide information of services available (from the DRC Community Center and from other actors).
• Collect all relevant information and suggestions from the communities and communicate them to the Livelihood Officer and Community Center Manager for efficient planning of trainings and information sessions.
• Create a map of employment opportunities and referral options by meeting with private sector actors in the target area.
• Help to identify employment gaps from the outreach activities and home visits. 
• Establish and maintain relationships with private businesses, community leaders, and networks. 
• Perform all necessary community outreach activities and document good practices and lessons learnt.
• Adhere to any internal work plans created by either the Livelihood Officer, Community Center Manager, or Field Coordinator. 
• Assist in the regular collection of information regarding beneficiary and community needs to feed in assessments and reports. 
• Identify gaps in service provision and local labor markets.
• Assist in the enforcement of HAP Principles of Accountability.
• Ensure the application of DRC Code of Conduct and DRC Policies and Procedures. 
 
 
About you 
 
To be successful in this role you must have:
 
Required qualifications:  
• Strong qualifications in political/social sciences, psychology, social work, rural development or a relevant equivalent. 
• Ability to think creatively and be solution oriented.
• Ability and willingness to maintain regular presence at project sites and to work during irregular working hours. 
• Ability to write reports in a timely fashion.
• Computer skills (Excel, Microsoft, PowerPoint and Outlook). 
• Understanding of the socio-economic conditions and needs of Syrian refugee populations a must. 
• Ability to work effectively as an integral part of multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team and to work with a wide range of government and community counterparts, and other actors. 
• Customer-service oriented, able to manage competing priorities, and resourceful in problem solving.  
 
 
 
Required experience: 
• 0-3 years of experience working with an NGO. 
• Direct experience with community mobilization and facilitation.
• Experience in community needs identification.
• Experience with relationship management, working in local and vulnerable communities. 
• Experience with communicating and addressing the needs of vulerbale populations in Jordan.

We offer 
 
DRC will offer the successful applicant a three months contract as probation period, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work on August 2017 and be willing and able to work in Karak -Jordan.
