The incumbent will be responsible for managing UNICEF Indonesia’s major gifts programme, which consists of generating significant financial contributions from high-net-worth individuals and family/corporate foundations for UNICEF’s programmes in Indonesia and worldwide. This includes building and maintaining personal relationships with prospects and donors, preparing compelling cases for support and other material, the active solicitation of philanthropic gifts, as well as the preparation of asks by UNICEF Indonesia’s senior management.

How can you make a difference?

Under the guidance of Chief of Private Sector Fundraising & Partnerships, the incumbent will be responsible for managing UNICEF Indonesia’s major gifts programme, which consists of generating significant financial contributions from high-net-worth individuals and family/corporate foundations for UNICEF’s programmes in Indonesia and worldwide. This includes building and maintaining personal relationships with prospects and donors, preparing compelling cases for support and other material, the active solicitation of philanthropic gifts, as well as the preparation of asks by UNICEF Indonesia’s senior management.

 

Main tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategy to engage with, and raise significant funds from, high-net-worth individuals and associated foundations;
  • Identify and research potential donors (with specific focus on those able to give gifts of US$50-100,000 and upwards);
  • Develop and keep up to date donor profiles and contact reports;
  • Develop and cultivate personal relationships and networks of prospects, existing donors, and their advisors;
  • Engage high-net-worth individuals through personal gifts to UNICEF, or using their contacts and influence in support of our programmatic and fundraising objectives;
  • Once commitments have been made, provide effective account management/donor recognition and relevant reporting/feedback;
  • Develop funding proposals, cases for support, and other relevant materials necessary for potential donors by working across UNICEF globally to identify relevant funding needs and preparing compelling presentations;
  • Manage due diligence screenings of individuals, foundations and related companies where relevant.

 

At all times the incumbent will be expected to work closely with colleagues (in Indonesia and in regional/head offices) to:

  • Ensure that all donations and relationships comply with UNICEF’s policies;
  • Support UNICEF’s plans and priorities;
  • Follow best practices in qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donor relationships.
     

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

  • Master’s degree*) in Business Administration, Marketing, management or Communications or related subject;
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of professional experience in business development and management, ideally with particular focus on fundraising / marketing / communication;
  • Any experience in soliciting significant financial contributions from wealthy individuals and/or foundations is a strong asset;
  • Knowledge of the Indonesian market and experience in budgeting and financial skills are desirable;
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia (oral and written) is required.

*) A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 3 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
