Job description

  • Provide free information, Counseling and Legal assistance to refugee's returnees, IDPs and host community (beneficiaries) consistent with the applicable laws and procedures, including timely and appropriate follow-up appeals etc.
  • Represent clients in courts, Attorney, Law and other relevant departments when required.
  • Prepare Legal documents to the clients including Writing case statement (law suit) and defense letters on a professional and best way in order to define the right of beneficiaries.
  • Maintain and update hard files of the Legal and Counseling Cases.
  • Remain updated on current legislation and legal developments in Afghanistan and international protection frameworks.
  • Participate in Jirgas/shuras following up cases and other activities as required;
  • Participate in field visits for identification and follow up of cases, when scheduled.
  • Participate in preparation of monthly reports, and correspondence with government officials and international organizations.
  • Bring legal problems of clients to the attention of relevant departments/stakeholders.
  • Represent NRC in national and international meetings, when requested and promote exchange of information with relevant external actors;
  • Participate in NRC staff seminars and training, when scheduled;
  • Respect the anonymity of clients approaching NRC and the confidentiality of information received from any clients all the time.
  • Any other tasks as instructed by immediate superior.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of work experience with INGOs/legal assisting institutions in relevant field. Bachelor Degree in Law or Sharia faculty.
  • Familiarity with justice department and legal trainings.
  • Working with legal and access to justice in organization is preferred.
  • Both Pashto and Dari language is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of preparing proper report(Weekly, Monthly ,Quarterly and Annual)
  • Excellent skills of training conductions.
  • Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Having the AIBA license is a must.
